I'm thinking of buying a new Mini but I'd like to try the Fusion Drive first as I'm reductant to go that way before trying some stuff on them first.

I called the two Apple Stores in Barcelona and none of them have them yet and don't know when they're going to.

My question being: Do Stores have different configurations of Minis? I'm afraid they'll just have units with regular 5400rpm drives...

Thanks!

Generally speaking, Apple stores only carry the default models. So the 599$ and 799$ and 999$ server models. They will not have any custom or BTO configurations in the store.

Apple store here in Jacksonville, Fl says they don't have any of the new Mini's yet. Think we are gonna make a trip over there this evening & see what's up.

The Apple Store website says they will be available in local stores starting tomorrow.

This is correct. However, after making a call earlier this afternoon to the Apple Store I was told no one knows when they will get any Mini's delivered to them. They also told me that just because it's says something on the website doesn't make it so... ;)

You can order it online (BTO) and they will ship it to you or to the store for free. If you want an excuse to go to the store (Like I would to buy extras.), have them ship it there and go get it.

I don't mind getting a BTO shipped to home. Did it with my first mini. What I'd like is to test in situ some stuff on a Fusion Drive, which looks impossible as they only got base models in the stores to play with... :(

Can you have them upgrade it to the BTO configuration you wanted in store for the same price as ordering it online? So if you wanted an SSD or 8 gb of RAM and didn't want to do the upgrade yourself, will they do that in store for the same price it would've been online?

It just matters on where the store is.

Does anyone know about stock of non-standard configurations. i.e. Not the three standard models, but then when you start ticking options?

I got my MacBook Air in a UK Apple Retail store shortly after launch, and just chanced upon them having stock of a non-standard configuration (it was the top model, with then the upgraded RAM/CPU/SSD options ticked). The front of house staff didn't know they had it (they just thought they had the standard models), but I rung the store and spoke to someone out the back who had unpacked them off the truck that morning.

I called the Cambridge Apple store yesterday and they're hoping to have them in next week. I also spoke to KRCS Apple Resellers in Peterborough and they were estimating next week's delivery too, but couldn't be sure.

:apple:

Yeah, that sucks. Good luck.

I was going to have it shipped, but saw they would be in stores "10/25." Now, no dice. This was going to be a gift for someone today and now I wished I would have ordered on Tuesday for shipping. :(

are you sure they wont have it today? seems like they should get a shipment today as well (makes kind of sense?)

The website always so no stock for my stores, but I call and they do. I'm in school right now, but after I will call and see. I hope they have some in, cause I HAVE to get it tomorrow night, or get a old model.

I asked them about this in the Regent Street store yesterday as I have one of those grey gift cards loaded with coin (you cannot use them online). Apparently Flagship stores sometimes get "loaded" models but they don't know what they will get until they get it. They said they ought to know by Monday.

Interesting. Went to the Online Apple Store and if you change the processor or the RAM delivery times goes up to 2-4 days. Same happens if you choose the 256GB SSD. But if you choose the Fusion Drive, 7-10 days.

I'm not trying to say anything with this, just found it curious.

Jacksonville, Fl Apple store was supposed to get a shipment of the new Mini's today...they didn't. Guess we will order ours tomorrow evening if they don't have any by 5pm.

Why would you announce a new product or a refresh, say it's ready to ship and not have it on the way to the stores in advance? Then there's the Apple website saying Mini's WILL be in stores TODAY!!!

SMH....

Has anyone found them instores today, or have you been able to find out WHEN your store is getting them?

How about BestBuy, do they have them yet?
