I'm in Little Rock, Arkansas and have been checking the Apple site everyday. Yesterday it said you could order online and pickup on the 25th, today. This morning I checked online again and the option to pickup had been enabled but when I clicked on it, it said there were none in stock at my store and every store within 500 miles.

I was having lunch with my roommate next to the Apple store and decided to drop in and see when they would have them. He said they had not been told when they would receive them but he would check in the back just in case.

5 minutes later he walked out with my mini. He said they had just gotten the shipment this morning and that they hadn't updated the site to reflect that yet. I checked the specs just to be sure it was the right one - 4GB of RAM. Bingo.

Moral of the story: it never hurts to ask. Happy hunting! :)

I just checked for the mid-level Mini using the zip code 21209 (Baltimore) and 3/4 of the stores in the list are showing them in stock.

lots of stores in the Chicagoland area have them too! too bad I'm thinking of fusion and processor upgrade, or I'd grab one now!

I stopped in the Towson, MD store to ask a couple of questions. It was surprising how little the employee new about their own products. I wanted to get some feedback between a 2011 27" iMac and the mid-level 2012 Mac Mini. I didn't get any useful info and he didn't even know the new one has an HDMI. He also said he didn't know when they would get them. When I said the website shows it's in stock, he responded "Really?".

I assumed my store in Columbia, MD wouldn't have any so I ordered online this morning. Since I was near the store this afternoon and had time to kill, I popped in to ask some questions (I'm new to OS X). I was told they had them in stock. I'd be bummed but it seems my order will arrive FedEx tomorrow.

Picked one up today in Gilbert AZ. I got the base model one. Checked the website about an hour b/f I headed up there and it said they didn't have any. Got there and they had all 3 sku's

Just picked up an ivy bridge quad core mac mini at the downtown Toronto Ontario location. Apparently they just arrived this afternoon.:)

I went to the Apple Store in Indianapolis today, and, on display they had the "old" minis. The clerk first told me the reason was because "they won't ship until November". Then I asked him about the issue of not being able to add external storage to a fusion drive. He seemed unaware of that, went back to talk to someone, came back and told me they assumed that meant the OS couldn't reside on the external drive. Then he said they had the new minis "in the back". I asked him when they would be on display, he said "we change the store displays every night", but he didn't know when the new minis would go in display. I didn't ask if I could walk out the door with a new one since I'm getting one using an ed discount and not until after the first of the year.

I was really disappointed in the level of knowledge in the store. This clerk didn't even know you could order the new minis online until he checked when I asked him...

Unknowledgeable Apple sales staff...

I'm disappointed in the Apple store in Philadelphia too. They told me Mac Minis wouldn't ship until maybe December. Then I went to the UPenn bookstore and they said they'd already arrived at their warehouse. I guess the Mac Mini gets no love...

I was at my local Compu b store (Apple Premium Reseller) today to ask them about the 3 types of Mac mini's; they all sell the base models and they had a couple of E.O.L. (End Of Line) mini's too. You'd expect them to sell the EOL's at a reduced price since they are trying to get rid of them.

I rung my local Apple store this morning. "All our specialists are busy with other customers, please hold, you will be transferred." I'm 90% sure it was Siri I got transferred to, as they just sad in a monotone voice with no background-noise that "Apple stores have stock of the standard models" and then hung up.

So when I was in town this afternoon I went into the store. They had one Mac Mini on demo, but it was a new 2012 model. Took me ages to find an Apple employee to speak to - store was full of people just checking their facebook. Anyways, they just said that they only had stock of the standard models and to order online for custom configurations. Said that they never get any of the higher specified models in stock, which I know to be untrue as I got my maxed out MacBook Air in store! (Yes I know they don't get every combination of options, but they did have that particular configuration that day when I went in!) Also said that they wouldn't order one in for me, and I can't order online for it to be delivered to the retail store. Shame, if they had it in-stock or would have ordered it in they would have had my £999 there and then.

Anyways, I wasn't going to argue or insist that they actually checked the stock room. The employee was very much a flat "no".
Have I gone and ordered it online now I'm back home? Nope.

I have 2 stores that I normally go to. Crabtree Valley Mall and Southpoint. Crabtree is in Raleigh, NC, and one is 10 miles away, in Durham. Crabtree is having major supply issues lately, and they did not get any in stock, but the one in Durham did. I used the "In-Store" pickup option on Thursday night, before they removed it Friday morning for all stores. Went to Southpoint, picked up my order, it was the correct machine. The machine on display was still a 2011, and the "iPad sale program" was showing the old models AT amazing discounts. Like 50 dollars off base, 150 off mid level, and 100 off server.

Kinda wanting to pick up a mid level with the discreet graphics for that price.

Now in store in Regent Street. Only base models though, nothing "extra". Shame. Mid range model acquired :)

i would call your local store - when i got mine last thursday the website showed no local pickup options - i called local apple store & they had all 3 skus in stock

i was very happy :)
