It’s time to let Touch ID go. Face ID is a much better unlock method. I’ve been using it for months now-it’s awesome, really.

They’re not going to bring it back anymore than they are the headphone jack.

I heard that TouchID and the headphone jack will make a return and IOS 12 will bring back the skeumorphic interface.

The same could be said for Touch ID...or Google, or gps tracking, etc.

That is, if you actually are that paranoid. Face ID is a security measure, intended to protect your identity-not compromise it.

If this type of thing worries you, you should probably go back to using a land line.

1) Can't be an invasion if you open the door and say, come on in.
2) It is no more a security risk than TouchID.
3) Apple released White Papers on FaceID, as they did for TouchID. As such, the consumer is fully aware how both work.

If you are concerned about security, don't use either. Otherwise, law enforcement (in the U.S. at least) can compel you to open the phone via TouchID etc.

I get that not everyone likes FaceID. However, you should do some research before making such erroneous statements.

You make a valid point about Touch ID consuming space with hardware components. Having it deleted allows more room for advanced technology with batteries, Camera and processor improvements. One of the same reasons that Apple removed the 3.5 Jack and multiple Apple Executives have stated that removal opened up more room in areas where they can continually advance camera and process improvements.

I think putting touch ID on the back of the iPhone would have been a categorically horrible design. I know some do like it, but it seemed very UnApple like and I never believed they were going to do that even before Face ID was announced. The Notch dislikes aside, Face ID is some fascinating technology.

don't use any product EVER then...as face ID is as secure as you can get for the most part

those who like touch ID i suggest you stick with the 8 and 8 plus until your phone doesn't work no more as soon all phones will have only face ID tech...

Not going to happen, but they should sell older devices with a home button for the next 2 years. Probably best to adapt now, Face ID is great, but can definitely improve.

I agree that TouchID on the back of the iPhone may have been a bad design. Although, it may have worked if apple incorporated TouchID into the apple logo. That would have been interesting

Your face isn't private. You literally display it for anyone and everyone whenever you leave your home. Why are you afraid your phone will see one of your most public features?

It’s probably just me(no it’s not) but when my hands are generally dry, which they usually are, the Touch ID was extremely reliable and definitely worked a lot more consistently than Face ID.

Face ID is interesting technology but it is far from perfect and borderline an inconvenience at times. I’m all for moving forward but also still open to keeping it around. I’d hate to have to lift up my iPad Pro and look at it just to unlock it.

I am with ya, definitely not 100% there yet. I am happy with my X, but Face ID improvements are at the top of my list. Hopefully they come with the iPad.
