Missing iOS 9 Battery Widget (Solved! Need Apple Watch paired!)

Alright, so I'm seeing a lot of people saying that they are not finding the battery widget in the notification center. I have a theory that I'm going to try and prove soon, but I'm thinking it's simply because the widget only becomes available when your iPhone is paired to an Apple Watch. Every screenshot I've seen of this feature shows the battery percentage of the users phone and their watch. I don't have the widget yet, but I also haven't paired my watch. When I get home shortly, I will test to see if my theory is correct!

***Edit: When I added my Apple Watch, the widget showed up and was enabled automatically***

  • Also, maybe I'm overthinking but the widget says "Batteries". So it seems like it won't turn on unless you have an Apple Watch paired.

Sounds reasonable, since otherwise you can see your device's battery at the top right anyway.

I have my watch paired but do not have the widget.

I know Find My Phone shows battery percentages, so that's why I assume they would be linked through that, especially since I believe they just officially made it installed by default for the first time, right?

Ok, so I just paired my Apple Watch and the widget showed up and was enabled immediately!!

Hmmm I even tried repairing my watch and still not showing up.

Edit: Doh, guess I should have tried a reboot before posting. Working now

Just installed iOS 9 on my iPad, and it has the option to put battery widget into the Notification Center, but nothing shows up. If this thread is right, and the battery widget is for use with the watch, why is the option even on the iPad, which doesn't pair with the watch????

My iPad with an Ultrathin Bluetooth keyboard shows the keyboard battery as well as the iPad. When I turn off the keyboard, the battery widget goes away...

Ah, ok. That makes sense. Must pair my Bluetooth headphone when I get home to see if it shows up. Thanks for the info!

Well this is mildly disappointing. Apparently 3rd party devices are supported, but it must require some support on the device side too, because my Garmin Fenix3 doesn't cause the battery widget to show up. Off to request the feature from Garmin, I guess.

Bummer, why not just list what's there - and append Watch, Mouse, Keyboard, banana .. as they become available?
Meh! Oh well, guess THAT is why it is not showing, no got no Watch to pair (waiting for 2nd gen)

This also works with several third party BT accessories...mainly beats products, but there are others out there also.

Seems oddly implemented. If my Bluetooth headset is connected, the widget appears, showing both headset and phone battery percentage. But when headset is disconnected, widget disappears entirely. Not sure why Apple decided to do that.

Edit: And thread title should be changed, since it currently is giving incorrect information.

yes... you are correct....when I disconnected my BT Headset.. the widget disappeared...

Thanks for the insight, I couldn't figure it out until I read your solution, but...
You're partially right. It requires ANY Bluetooth device that "sends" battery status TO the phone.
I have a Jowbone Icon. As soon as I connected it to my phone, I got the status for both batteries!
Normally the Icon shows it's battery status on the iphone's status bar next to the bluetooth icon, it still does, but the widget shows percentage of both.
