iPhone Missing my JB...

What if it gets jail broken on, let's say 8.0.2 or 8.0.3 and then there's another update 8.0.4-5 and the phones get shipped with those or updated unsold stock in a fairly quick manner? Plus Apple is "all about security" now. What would you do then?
I miss my jailbreak on iOS 6.1!
I miss my old iPhone 5. I had worn it in and despite some of it's scrapes and scratches I liked it.

That's part of the reason I got mine now. I'll just tough it out after this next patch if its stable. And as much as I miss my JB I know there are some other things I really like in 8, texting is now easy with quick reply and the voice and picture flick sending, NFC apple pay, health kit, supported widgets etc.

Sure, but for how long? Right now I know you can go back, part of that is the patch today broke things. For all we know tomorrow they could stop, and only sign it for devices that can't handle anything higher, maybe not. I'm just asking what would you do then? Personally, I love the JB stuff for when apple or carriers don't want to do certain things, but Apple has been getting better with adding features, and for my use most of the JB things aren't necessary but useful or icing on the cake.

Ehrm old iPhone 5 had iOS 6.1. I had to get it replaced because it had a bulging battery.
New iPhone 5 is perfect, but it came with iOS 7.1.2. I'm not happy at all about that, but at least I could jailbreak it.
I'm hoping some miracle occurs and Apple signs 6.x for a bit and I can downgrade. Yeah, I know, I'm dreaming. But one can dream.
I like upgrading before the JB comes out. At least with me, 90% of the tweaks I install I don't really need. Once I don't have them for a few days, I never miss them.
That said, there are some things I am jonesing for on my new 6, like Browser Changer, speedier animations, and being able to clear the background of the dock.

I too like upgrading first then not reinstalling those tweaks that I never used.

At times like this I wish that I had another iOS device to test the latest "stock" firmware on. As with many others, I'm running jailbroken 7.1.2 on my iPhone 5s and won't update to 8 until it is jailbroken. I've toyed around with the idea of upgrading and testing it for a while and downgrade back to 7.1.2 while it is still signed. Meh.
I tried to downgrade to 7.1.2 this morning and was having such problems.. iTunes could no longer start a session for my phone for a backup. I might've been too late. Oh well, gonna go back to 8.0.2. Sigh.
What is the chance of us getting something like BiteSMS without having to jb? I am glad to see that Apple is at least allowing some customization now with widgets and keyboards. Bite alone is worth jailbreaking. A gal can hope can't she?

They stopped signing 7.1.2
I'll be getting the 6+ (most likely) when I'm due to upgrade in January. Hopefully there will be a JB by then, but lack of a JB won't keep me from upgrading.
I'm the reverse. I waited to upgrade to the 5 until the JB was available, and I'll do the same for the 6+. To me, a stock phone is too crippled to tolerate for long--I need bite, iBlacklist, Folder Enhancer, Activator, and a way to silence all the crappy extraneous noises that Apple still doesn't include a way to shut off in Settings.
To me, the best hardware in the world doesn't compensate for crappy software. I'm not a patient person by nature....but I can wait if I have to.
I would keep iOS 7 if I still had my 5S but forced into iOS 8 with the iPhone 6. Will miss PandoraSkips, Phantom for Snapchat, Photoalbums+ and several more tweaks. But I waited for the jb last year and I can do it again. Hopefully it comes before or around Christmas again haha.
I totally understand where you're coming from, and while I do prefer being jailbroken, at the end of the day it's not a big deal for me.
I wonder how they're gonna do the iOS 8 jailbreak? Since the new phone screen sizes are so different than the 5/5s, etc, I wonder how it's going to look. I miss my jailbreak on my 5s and can't wait to JB again when it's out.
I got an iPhone 6. I haven't really missed my jailbreak too much. I will be happy if/when it's back, but I don't miss it nearly as much as I did while waiting for the iOS 7 JB.
Its going to look just like every other JB iphone and ipad out there.
They don't have to do anything about the screen size.
