A big pat on the back to Hughes and Swisher for being so lousy tonight. How could Hughes be so dumb as to throw a fastball over the middle of the plate to Guerrero? That was the turning point.

FINAL!!!!!!

LAA 7 - 6 NYY

woooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo happy hour!!!!!!!!!!!!!(the good kind):D:D:D:p:p:p:p

time to celebrate!!!!

still hoping for a RED OCTOBER

Move Melky to RF and put Gardener in CF.

I like Swisher and all but he's left WAAAAYYYYY too many on base...this was the last straw.

I would have thought that posting AJ to a two-run lead would give him some confidence but man that 7th swung the door wide open.

Grrrr...

We go back home so it's all good.:)

I don't know. Angels will be playing with nothing to lose again and this may have actually turned them on. Angels have gifted this series to the Yanks so far for the most part. We actually went 2 for 55 or some crazy number with the top two spots and zero stolen bases. Yankee fan should be nervous.

Not hard to win two games and I like the Angels overall record vs. NY.

So you are going to mail it in.:p:D
You would hate to live in the northeast where Yankees and Red Sox fans roam the streets and talk crap to each other on a daily basis. It is part of the game. If you don't support your team or stick up for it what kind of fan are you. Maybe baseball is thought of differently in the midwest but up here it is taken seriously.

It must be a northeast thing. You'll never see a Cardinals fan talk crap to a Cubs fan walking the streets or vice versa. It's a friendly rivalry. Walk into any bar or restaurant in downtown St. Louis after a Cards/Cubs game and you'll see fans from both teams sitting together talking baseball over a round of beers as if they've been lifelong friends.

I would never expect that with the NY/BOS rivalry. I'd be shocked to see them anywhere near each other and not talking crap. To be honest I prefer what you have and not the hardcore where it can ruin the experience of a visiting team's fan.

Yeah, I mean I have a few friends and some family in Chicago who are Cubs fans, and we will give each other crap jokingly, but random people we don't know? Nah, that doesn't happen much at all.

Its not street fights if that is what you are thinking. But there is a lot of competitiveness between the fans and trash talk is the norm. There is also inteligent baseball talk.

A title would be something to lose. This will be over in six. Burnett has been lousy on the road this whole year so this game comes as no surprise. To win two games like this is extremly tough when you have a good postseason pitcher like Pettite and the only true ace in the playoffs in Sabathia.

BTW Figgins was hitting poorly (and still is) even before they played the Yankees and if not for one big hit against Boston, Guerrero would be performing poorly.

It's not impossible but its very far out. Going into this series no one would have said this would be over in five. This was always going to be tough.

I can tell you I think this the last big year the Angels have in them. Guerrero is getting old and worn, they probably can't afford to resign Lackey, they have to ask themselves if Figgins is worth 10+ million a year and Abreu is a free agent.

These will be two reasonably hard games to win.

I don't think it's impossible, but the Angels have to realize the minute they step off the plane, they will be entering a two game postseason. Few thought the Angels would be in this position so they have nothing to lose.

Being in NY against the Yankees, the pressure is on New York to win. If the Yankees don't then it goes down as a choke. If the Angels lose, people will comment on how well they did this season.

A similar pressure will be on NY if they face the Phillies.

I should correct myself. I think not only few, or even many, but most baseball fans think that the Yankees will take the ALCS. They won over 100 games in the regular season.

Because of this greater possibility of the Yankees taking the ALCS, I am going to root for the Angels as are many Yankee haters, or people just tired of seeing the Yankees take so many ALCS pennants and World Series.

You have a team with just one championship in a half a century of play, and a team with 26 championships in just over a century. Again, no need for yet another Yankees win.

If the Angels, by some measurement by some experts, is not the underdog in the ALCS, then that would not be the majority opinion. I can say that even when the odds are against the Yankees on any given game or series, it's never a surprise when the Yankees pull off wins. They are, the over funded Yankees.

If the Angels go the the World Series, I see the Phillies having a slight edge and the team with the pressure to win, since they are going not only for a World Series, but defending a World Series to be an elite team and do a back to back season.

Don't fool yourself, the Angels have one of the toughest uphill battles ahead of them to go for their second ring ever. The rally monkey will have to get paid overtime.
