So is there a way to set up your atv to stream from a proxy server to avoid black outs?

iPad Mirroring

Has anyone tried MLB At Bat 11 on an iPad 2 with the Apple HDMI mirroring? Does that work?

I'll answer my own question -- No! It doesn't work. I'm very disappointed, but when you load MLB At Bat, the mirroring via HDMI turns off. You get audio, but no video out from the MLB At Bat app. It's apparent that MLB has disabled any video out from their app, apparently to force people to subscribe separately to MLB.TV video services.

This is really bad. For spring training, the free preview, it did work. Once the season started it got blocked. Talk about bait and switch. I am really, really frustrated. What will they take away next?

Are you talking about the iPad 1? Because from my understanding, the iPad 2 is the only one that does video mirroring and it is not possible to block that. The iPad 1 when connected with the hdmi adapter does video out which has to be supported by the app itself but not video mirroring.

I have an iPad 2 and watched Spring Training games just fine using the HDMI with MLB AtBat 2011. I have not been able to watch real season games.

I called MLB and they insisted it was a setting at Apple.

1) That made no sense
2) I didn't have to call Apple for ST
3) That still makes no sense

But I called Apple. The tech said "That makes no sense." He had me switch the iPad 2's video settings around just to test, but he agreed that this is not anything on the Ipad2 but with MLBs settings.

I'm using an iPad 2. Mirroring should work with every app, but apparently MLB has found a way to disable this feature. This is further confirmed by the other posters who have noted that it worked during spring training but stopped working once the season started.

It is very disappointing that MLB decided to do this.

How did you contact MLB? Maybe I'll try giving them a ring too.

There's a tech support email link in the app, they replied with a phone number.

I went out and bought the HDMI adapter for my iPad 2 and was also frustrated that all I got was a blank screen (well, to be fair, the audio transferred through just fine). I emailed MLB and was told to call this number: 1-866-306-5311. I haven't called it yet but will today.

It seems to me that the issues with the video mirroring started with this most recent update of MLB At Bat 11 (at least, from what I've read online and through the app reviews), which coincided with the start of the regular season. Given that video mirroring works with every other app I have installed, how could it not be MLB's fault, whether intentional or bug?

i found a way to make it work i got pictures to prove as of today anybody else willing to try it?

this is how i got it to work:

Make sure you got the auto lock feature on with a pass-code on and it needs to lock immediately!!!!

1 - open MLB App
2 - go to the score board!
3 turn off ipad screen "make sure auto lock with pass-code is set for immediately"
4 - turn on ipad slide to unlock and at the same time u are entering your password hookup the hdmi adapter! you should see your tv screen flicker and you will have the mlb app on your screen! now click watch live game and you are set!!! if it doesnt work try again some times it takes a couple of times

please let me know if it works for you!!! see my pictures above

No joy on my iPad 2. I could sometimes get the password screen up there, and still always get the audio, but never any display of the At Bat app.

You're plugging the HDMI in as you are entering the password? I tried that, I tried before, and immediately after. Sound only.

Good news!

They added HDMI support.

Bad news!

Only mirroring, so most of the screen space is wasted.

I emailed them thanking for step 1 and asking for fullscreen, and they told me to call so they could troubleshoot my problem.

Sigh...

Many tvs have picture format modes. I watched a game tonight via hdmi mirroring and I turned on my tv's "zoom" mode. In this mode there was essentially no wasted space and it still looked great!

Absolutely agree. Nice to have video mirroring back, but on my 50 inch TV, the video is too small. Wish MLB would output in 1080 or 720.
