I have noticed that if I create an event in MobileMe or on my iPhone it won't appear in iCal on my iMac until I quit iCal and restart. Not sure why it does this, but it does.

Has anyone gotten any resolution to this problem? I purchased a new MacBook yesterday and am unable to get my MobileMe calendar to sync with iCal.

I've got the same problem. Stopped in at the Mac store and talked with a genius. He didn't know how to solve the problem.:confused:

Working now.

Guys,

I have now fixed this problem on my mac.

Basically, I heard today that Apple had done some work on MobileMe, and so I played around with all this again.

UNFORTUNATELY, I could not get this to work as a "replace all info on my mac with info from MobileMe" solution. I tried everything, again, but could not get that to work (all sorts of errors). This was a shame because all my calendars were on MobileMe and not on my mac. Also, I only have one computer registered with MobileMe, so I'm not sure what to do if you have more than one.

Anyway, here's roughly what I did:

1. I took a handwritten note of all my future calendar appointments (yes, ridiculous I know)
2. I opened MobileMe preferences, disabled syncing, and unregistered my computer from MobileMe. It asked if I want to delete all (calendar) data from MobileMe now that no computers were registered - I said yes, although it didn't seem to actually work. So I deleted MobileMe account info from my iPhone to be sure, but it still wasn't deleted from me.com. I waited a few hours, and still no deletion. So...
3. I manually deleted all calendar info at me.com (just clicked every appointment and pressed delete)
4. Opened iSync on my mac, went to preferences, and cleared all sync history
5. Deleted my iCal calendar files (user > Library > Calendars)
6. Waited about an hour (I don't know if I needed too - I just wanted MobileMe to "sit" for a bit as I had had issues in the past while trying to fix this problem with items magically reappearing again, etc)
7. Opened iCal (which was now completely empty after step 5), and re-created some of my appointments
8. Opened MobileMe preferences, enabled syncing (manual only at this stage), and ticked calendars. I then clicked Advanced and clicked Reset Sync data, and chose to replace all info on MobileMe with info from my mac. I let it sync.
9. It seemed to work, in that my appointments I created in iCal were now on me.com.
10. So it was time for the big test: I created some more appointments at me.com, waited a few minutes, and then did a manual MobileMe sync on my mac. Voila! It actually worked - appointments were now in iCal.
11. I changed MobileMe syncing to automatic and also enabled contacts, etc. They worked fine as before.
12. I re-hooked up my iphone to MobileMe and did several more tests creating calendar appointments in various places and ensuring they synced across the board. Everything synced. Thank God.

Having had so much problems before, I am still not 100% confident, but it does seem to be working.

I hope this helps anyone with a similar setup to me

Me Too

Yeah unfortunately I have tried all this. First i did it myself and then followed the instructions the Mobile Me support team have sent me but no joy. I am currently waiting for a reply from Mobile Me support as the engineers are now looking into this problem. I have sent them some data from tests I have run to help them correct the problem. So just got to wait. But good to know you got yours sorted out.
________________________________________
I have delete the accounts from the Mac and iPhone way more times than I wish to count. I have also reset the sync data. No avail.

Mac to iPhone works mostly, but every event I add to the iPhone eventually gets deleted. Nice. Starting to like Microsoft again (which is really sad).

Outside Help....

Hi all...

I was having the same issue, only I was also using "Spanning Sync" to sync my iCal calendar to a Google calendar a number of us Product Mangers use. I sought out help from Mobile Me support only to led in a circle that kept referring me back to the support section of the website. I also tried just about every solution listed here and on other sites and had no luck at all. ANYWAY, I turned to Spanning Sync for council and within a day I was back up and running. The problem is (or at least MY problem was) corrupt iCal data. The first round of fixes the suggested was more of the same thing I've read here. I'll list all the suggestions, then highlight what ultimately worked for me.
-------------------------------------

The report shows that you have some data corruption. You should be able to resolve this by resetting Sync Services:

* Open iSync (in /Applications)
* Go to preferences
* Click Reset Sync History
* Try syncing again

If that fails to resolve the issue, try replacing the database:

* If you haven't done so lately, make a backup of your iCal calendars (iCal File menu > Back up iCal)
* Quit out of all open programs
* Make sure that nothing is syncing (Spanning Sync, .Mac, iSync)
* Move these two folders to the trash:

~/Library/Application Support/SyncServices (~ refers to your home directory)
~Library/Application Support/iSync/SyncLocalCopy (~ refers to your home directory)

* Restart
* Open iCal and give it a few minutes to write out the new database

Please let us know if that doesn't address the problem or you have other questions.
----------------------------------------------------
That didn't work in my case, so I ran another report (contained within the Spanning Sync Application) and sent it to them a second time. What they suggested next fixed the problem for me.

I'm still seeing the same errors in the new report. Lets try clearing your calendar cache:

* Quit out of iCal if it's open

* Delete this file:
~/Library/Calendars/Calendar Cache
(~ refers to your home directory.)

* Delete the contents of this folder:
~/Library/Calendars/Calendar Sync Changes/
(~ refers to your home directory.)

* Open iCal
* Wait at least five minutes until *after* it finishes "Upgrading Calendars"
* Sync!

All that said, what ultimately solved my problem may have been a combination of all of the above, so to be safe, start at the top. It doesn't take that long. Be sure to make a back-up of iCal first to be safe.

Good luck!

Back in business for now...

Thanks Polancito for the steps. This has succeeded in getting everything in sync again. I use a Plaxo integration since my company does not allow iTunes to be installed on our laptops. When things don't work it usually takes a while to figure out where the issue is. Unfortunately I am not at all confident that this will be the only time I will have to go through the process of removing and re-adding my mobile me account on my iPhone, but I rely on my calendar way too much to not suffer with the inconvenience. At least there is something I can do. Good luck everyone else. :):apple:

far away
1. Sync your iPhone via USB to iTunes.
2. Turn Off Your iPhone.
3. Wait 30 seconds and turn it back on.
4. Tap on "Settings" icon
5. Tap on "Mail, Contacts, Calendars"
6. Locate your Mobile Me Account
7. NOW THIS STEP IS CRUCIAL!!! Make sure that under the MM account name it looks exactly like this: Mail, Contacts, Calendars, Bookmarks
8. If it DOES NOT HAVE ALL OF THESE ITEMS LISTED your MM WILL NOT SYNC correctly.
9. Follow this simple fix: DELETE THE MOBILE ME or .MAC Account on the
iPhone.
10. Once Complete TURN OFF YOUR IPHONE AGAIN.
11. Wait 30 Seconds and TURN BACK ON
12. Tap on "Settings"
13. Tap on "Mail, Contacts, Calendars"
14. Tap on "Add Account"
15. Re-Ad you Mobile Me Account
16. Make sure your "Fetch New Data" icon is set to "Push"
17. Once you enter all the info in for your Mobile Me Account SAVE it
18. Mobile Me will run the verification
19. Now tap on your NEWLY ADDED MOBILE ME ACCOUNT
20. Make sure that Mail, Contacts, Calendars and Bookmarks are all set to "ON"
21. Mobile Me will do the initial "CLOUD" sync May take up to 5 minutes
22. Everything will begin to work. Try adding a contact on your iPhone or update your iPhone Calendar. Within 1 minute your Mobile Me On-Line Account and Desktop Contacts and iCal Calendars will update.

Thanks, Polancito. This worked for me. :)

I've been trawling the net for days looking at trying to resolve exactly this problem, and eventually find your post, and "hey presto" I'm :) again!!

Thank you.

I've been having the same problem (local ical not syncing with mobileMe, nor vice-versa). Tried the above steps, but no luck. Has anyone tried anything else. I've been dependent on local iCal to sync to my iPhone. :(

I fixed my issue yesterday. I was fine on the cloud and on my iPhone but my MacBook Pro wasn't pulling from the cloud. I think Snow Leopard broke it.
Anyway, I logged out, entered an incorrect name and password for the login. Then put in my correct information the next time. You will get a message that talks about that user name being used previously. Say, use same name. Went under my synch preferences and just check iCal and checked synch automatically. Next it will say that since it's your first time you have a few options for the first synch. Use the option that says synch from this computer to Mobile Me (cloud). Since you will be doing this, make sure you have all the correct appointments on your computer because you are going to have to replace the cloud with these appointments. Worked like a charm and now Mobile Me is pushing and pulling just like it did previoulsly from SL.

Easiest fix???

I'm not sure what broke mine, but my MacBook would not pull down appointments from MobileMe. Here is my fix, which wiped my MacBook's incomplete calendar and COMPLETELY replaced it with the MobileMe calendar. I think it accomplishes the same ends as kfresh, but more directly:

Go to System Preferences > MobileMe > Sync tab > Advanced... button > Reset Sync Data... button > Replace All Sync Data (pull down) On this computer with sync info from MobileMe (Left flowing arrow) > Replace button

The complete calendar showed up. I added an event to my iPhone -- success! And from MobileMe -- Success! And from iCal -- Success! That seems to have fixed the problem... at least for now.

Possible solution, but very labor intensive

Just like everyone else, for some reason, my mobile me would not sync with ical. I reviewed many forums and tried all the solutions I could find, but nothing seemed to work. Well, I take that back, it might have been the combination of:
1) Resetting my sync data in Mobile Me preferences. See Tony Stocco's website for the best instructions on how to do that.
2) Manually deleting all of my ical events and re-entering them on ical.

I know this isn't what many of you were looking for, but it worked for me. For now, my ical, mobile me calendar and iphone calendar all sync flawlessly. I hope it lasts, but my faith in mac is slowly diminishing. Between my ical syncing and email problems in the past, my faith in mac is diminishing. :(

Starting iSync helped

I don't claim that this makes sense but it solved my problem, which is that *certain* events were syncing between iPhone and MobileMe but not down to my Mac.

I quit Calendar. I started iSync. I heard disk activity, so I sat tight. *I didn't click anything, just started iSync.*

When I relaunched Calendar, some of my missing events were there. After a few more quits and relaunches, they were all there.
