Thanks for the detailed setup!
I have a few more questions if you do not mind?
What happens to the forwarded mail on Gmail? Do you mark it as read, archive it, or what? In other words, when you open up Gmail, where do you go for the forwarded emails?

Basically, in short, how do you manage your forwarded mail?

Sorry for the questions ans I am trying to figure out the best way.
Your and any other thoughts are greatly appreciated.

Hi SaintsMac, I'll try to answer as best as I can.

1. Forwarded mail in Gmail remains unread in Gmail. Until you access those messages in Gmail.

2. In Gmail, go to Settings > Forwarding and POP/IMAP. Here you can set to forward a copy to xxx@me.com and set what you want to do with the messages. (i) keep Gmail's copy in the Inbox (ii) archive Gmail's copy (iii) delete Gmail's copy. I set mine to (i). I don't delete emails unless they are pointless/meaningless to me.

3. Setup filters in Gmail. There are some messages I don't want to forward to mobileme ie. some monthly newsletters, membership letters. I set to Skip Inbox and Apply labels so it directly goes to my custom labels. I don't want these to get pushed to my iPhone.

I hope the above helps.

If I use Apple's Mail app for Mobile Me email will it keep a copy both on my Mac and on Mobile Me's servers? If I delete it on my Mac, it's still there on the Mobile Me server. I suppose this is like POP where I am asking it to keep a copy on the server.

Or would it act like IMAP, both Apple Mail and Mobile Me would have identical set ups?

New Question

Sorry to drag up this thread, but I have been unable to find a solution to my problem.

Ok, I have GMail, forwarding to MobileMe so that it pushes to my iPhone 3GS. It works well, generally pushing instantly, sometimes it'll push two or three at a time which makes me think the others actually came earlier, but I can live with that.

My problem:
On my Mac, I use Mail, and it syncs with GMail (not MobileMe, yet) and often (but not every time) I receive the following email:

Mail delivery failed: returning message to sender
A message that you sent could not be delivered to one or more of
its recipients. The following addresses failed:

<myemail@googlemail.com>

SMTP error from remote server after transfer of mail text:
host gmail-smtp-in.l.google.com[209.85.218.14]:
550 5.7.1 Unauthenticated email is not accepted from this domain.

It goes on a bit more like that. Is this referring to the forwarded email? The thing is all of the emails are being forwarded to MobileMe and my iPhone, but often this email will come immediately after the forwarded email, but only to my GMail account online and my Mail program. MobileMe does not receive this error message.

My Question:
How can I stop this error message? Everything is working Ok, so why do I get it?

Thanks :)
