I just signed up for free trial of mobile me. Seems pretty neat.

Who's using mobile me and what you like and don't like about it?

Marc

I have MobileMe and use it for quite a few reasons, but the biggie is the iCal and Contacts sync between my iPhone, iPad, and iMac.

Also the ease of transferring files between Pages on my iPad and Pages on my iMac, using iDisc, which works through MobileMe.

I should add one important fact for people who purchase MobileMe on eBay. Yes it is cheaper by quite a lot, and you can get extended time on it. However the second year and beyond is at the normal rate of $99.00. The only way to get around that is to cancel at the end of each year and re-purchase it on eBay, but then you may lose all data stored in Mobile me. So that savings is for the first year only.

I been using it for a while. Love it. Check eBay before you buy. I got a 15 month subscription for $54.

+1.... Got mine on eBay for $49.00.

It's priceless for syncing between two computers, iPad and iPhone. Bookmarks, calendars and contacts. Check.

The Find iPhone service actually works; though I don't always leave GPS on.

The email is the most spam-free experience I've had, better than Gmail.

Allows me to upload photos online for sharing.

Yep...it's excellent. I love everything on it. I can get my 2 Macs and iPhone synced on contacts, calendars, emails, bookmarks, etc. Can also share pictures and store my web site. It's excellent.

This isn't the case. You can buy MobileMe from eBay before the year is up and put in the code for another year. Have done this twice.

Wow, and how does this work? Someone buys a Mac and a subscription for MobileMe for $69 and then decides to sell his subscription or what?

At $49 a year it is really worth it.

Completely False. Buy on ebay or through amazon and enter the code.

Better to say they have an auction for MobileMe subscription key starting at 99 cents. I doubt it will sell any less then what it sells for in a buy it now auctions.

Oh, thanks, I really never buy stuff at eBay

+1 Absolutely do NOT need to cancel first, the other poster is way off base. You can input a code to extend at any time; it will simply add a year onto your current subscription. I did this just a few weeks ago, after reading about literally dozens of users here who've done it.

just to throw gmail into the mix google sync
set up instructions

with this you dont loose your email or everything when you stop paying, and you couls always give it a go since it's free and if you don't llike it you can quit with no loss.

I'm a long time MobileMe user (since before it was called .Mac) and loved but last year I tried Gmail (along with Google contacts and calendar) and worked great with my iMac (sync with iCal, contacts and address book).

And I've set up my iPhone now (using the second link - as MSFT exchange) for the past 3 weeks and it works brilliantly (full OTA sync for email, contacts and calendar) and free. No longer need MobileMe.

Not saying that MobileMe is a waste, but for me and for what I want this has fully replaced MobileMe.

Msft exchange? Can you elaborate?

You must be the first because I don't get a drop of spam from gmail:rolleyes:

I have MobileMe and find it very useful. What don't I like about? Well, the fact that ^*€%€¥~# To-Do items do not synch from iCal. :(

I'm not sure how the seller that I purchased from got it, but mine was was not the first, and the seller had 100% positive feedback. And I liked the fact that he mailed the box to my house, instead of emailing the code like a few other people were doing.

For what it is, they should offer it for free. The only thing that is actually great is the Find my iPhone service. That's the only reason I got the trial. For those who don't care about rest of MobileMe they should offer at least that to keep thieves at bay.
