I have seen several other members of the forum with newer model Macs noting that Airdrop is not working, or is intermittent for them. It sounds like a OS bug to me. What model Mac are you using?News???

By BT adapter, are you speaking of a dongle or an internal card? If the former, I believe CAT still needs to be hammered out some more for better dongle support with El Capitan.I have an interesting situation here. I've spent roughly 9 hours on this now testing various scenarios. Unfortunately this is resulting in a reliable kernel panic each and every time in my case. I suspect it is dependent upon the BT adapter perhaps that I am using, but would like some input. This worked fine previously for me in Yosemite and so the only differential is 10.11 (GM build). The activator installs fine, cloudpaird is copied over fine, but at reboot the system panics and a complete reinstall is required. Sadly I cannot even copy the old kexts back over and rebuild the caches, etc. to achieve bootability; a full reinstall is essential to getting back up for some reason and so this is a very costly process to troubleshoot for me.

Slvrscoobie, this was a perfect suggestion. I was already giving up on getting handoff and instant hotspot to work and your suggestion solved it for me on the MacBook Air mid 2011. Now with El Capitan GM all is working - AirDrop, Call Handoff, App Handoff and Instant Hotspot. Thanks a million for your resolution hunting!!!.....HOLY #$()&*
it worked!
I stole my wifes 10.10.2 CloudpaidD and HAND OFF WORKS!!!!
Just make a copy of the /system/library/coreservices/cloudpaird and drop this file in instead.
reboot and Voila working Handoff!!!!!!
hey guys, just post this to confirm our method is working on PB GM release, wola~~~
for those who wanna ask what I'm done just follow the guide lines:
disable SIT by enter the recoveryOS and type csrutil disable
reboot to normal system run CAT 2.1 beta release, do the patch.
when CAT finish it's job, don't reboot till you replaced cloudpaird download from this thread.
and BOOM handoff option appears in General panel after you reboot again
you can rearm the security settings by re-enable SIT and enable Rootless, hand-off just work till next system update.

Sounds like the CAT install is messing up somewhere along the way. Do you have SIP off when installing? Double-check messages on the install screen.
I have experienced panics before with CAT. And each time it happened, it was after reinstalling CAT. If memory serves, the panic message was related to the kext files being out of place etc.
I've been browsing this thread for sometime and I'm glad to here it is working on El Capitan. I have a late 2011 MBP and will be updating to 10.11 GM later this weekend. As long as AirDrop is working I'll be happy (don't really care about handoff). Many thanks to figuring out how to get it to work.....HOLY #$()&*

As far as I am aware, the Dongle option is not yet working in El Cap. Only the CAX modified internal BT Card from apple works as I know..Yes, the former: I have a Targus Broadcom dongle (Chipset: 20702A3; firmware: v14 c4096; vendor ID: 0x0A5C; product ID: 0x21E8). I did have SIP off.
Here is the Diagnostics output:
The kexts were seemingly in the right places when I checked... but I could have been overly flustered at the time with such insanity having that unexpectedly occur and just going down hill further each time.
It looks like the mod didn't accomplish what was needed and that has been the reason for the kernel panic each time. I know it is frustrating to have to restore from a panic from the mod, as I have had to do that before.Yes, the former: I have a Targus Broadcom dongle (Chipset: 20702A3; firmware: v14 c4096; vendor ID: 0x0A5C; product ID: 0x21E8). ALMOST DONE! After rebooting:
1) Make sure that both your Mac and iOS device have Bluetooth turned on, and are on the same Wi-Fi network.
2) On OS X go to SYSTEM PREFERENCES> GENERAL> and ENABLE HANDOFF.
3) On iOS go to SETTINGS> GENERAL> HANDOFF & SUGGESTED APPS> and ENABLE HANDOFF.
4) On OS X, sign out and then sign in again to your iCloud account.

I didn't think I would use Airdrop much if at all, when I upgraded my card. That notion quickly faded, as I saw how convenient it was to send files between my Apple devices. More than likely you will have to reinstall CAT and possibly cloudpaird. In App Store appears update for GM. If I update, all the changes via CAT or CloudpaidD lost?
I tried to use Handoff for a while but wasn't that impressed with it. I don't use Apple Mail in OS X as I've had too many probs with it. Been using Thunderbird. Browsing, I just use iCloud for that. The only reason I upgraded the BT card was for AirDrop. Def convenient to have.I didn't think I would use Airdrop much if at all, when I upgraded my card. El Capitan has been very stable for me since Public Beta 3. I experienced a few Safari panics during that time. Since then, El Capitan has been running better for me than Yosemite ever did. Regardless, I'm super stoked you guys worked out the probs with CAT on El Capitan. I have haven't had too many probs with Yosemite on my MBP, however I'm eager to try out El Cap and see how stable it is.

A little over a month ago, I believe sysfloat said he was going to try and work on dongle support for El Capitan. I haven't seen anything from him since then.
Was this dongle working in Yosemite or was it a recent purchase? I don't have any suggestions other than upgrading to an internal card.
He was looking for beta testers last time he posted here. Testers needed to be comfortable using terminal to move kexts files around and the like. I haven't seen a follow up from him nor have I seen any recent posting from him on git hub.Yes, this dongle was working in Yosemite. Any way to help sysfloat resolve this more rapidly?
I don't think I am even getting as far as you guys. I am receiving this message and I'm unable to go on any further.
Am I being stupid and missing a step?
mac midi 2011 with mod internal airport card and bt 4le.I have seen several other members of the forum with newer model Macs noting that Airdrop is not working, or is intermittent for them. It sounds like a OS bug to me. What model Mac are you using?
Have you found out how to bypass this error?
I get the same dialog and can't for the life of me get it to work.
The computer is a mid-2011 MacBook Air and Continuity worked well so far with Yosemite.
I got a reply back from sysfloat. His Mac suffered water damage and that is why he was out of commission for so long. He said he is going to work on making changes to CAT this weekend.
