WTF - Now my 16-inch 2021 MBP doesn't charge from any of the USB-C ports? I've tried 2 chargers that I know work and 2 different USB cables. When you plug the charger in nothing happens, not even the beep. I had to dig out my 140w charger that came with the MBP to charge it. The original charger also now seems a little flaky. The light on the MagSafe connector will drop off sometimes for a few seconds. This happened after the upgrade to 12.4???

Are you sure it's not Optimized Battery Charging doing its thing?

No optimized charging is turned off. Weird thing is that after switching to the 3rd set of charger and cable, it's now working again. I haven't had a chance to get the first 2 sets of chargers & cables to retry them but now it's good.

Have the same issue with MacBook 14' with M1 max MacOs 12.4, tried 2 sets of chargers.
Reboot sometimes enables charging, after hours, the problem appear again.

Visited this forum today to create/find posts about this. Exactly the same problem on my MBP M1 Max 16". After a few hours of use it is like it doesn't detect anything connected to the tb-ports. Only restart solves it.
This came out of the blue after updating to 12.4. I have some software installed that may impact this but I've tried disabling and no difference (AlDente primarily is a suspect).

Was worried that something is wrong with the machine but reassuring (while annoying) that more people seem to have troubles. Then it's certainly a software issue.

No problem here, optimized charging off, AlDente in use, 12.4, MacBook Pro 14" M1 Pro. I suggest you reset your NVRAM.

Restart, which supposedly is the way to reset smc/nvram on M1 macs, does help but only temporarily. The problem comes back and the device requires a restart to take charge (or to use monitor etc).

Do you still have the issue with 12.5 beta?

Not restart, disconnect everything and shutdown, wait for 5 minutes and then start. It would also be wise to run Onyx and also delete your user caches.

Not experiencing this problem thus far - and I had pretty much every single bigger problem with Monterey. Have you tried running your Mac in "safe mode" for a longer time to see if it then charges normal? Maybe some other software messes with it?

Boot into recovery mode still can't detect charging sometimes, seems not related to software messes.

I saw this problem too last week. 14 inch m1 max. Was at a remote office overnight and left the MBP charging off a USB 87w brick. Woke up to find battery down to 30%. A reboot fixed it.

I have the Mbp 14” m1 pro with the issue.

When 12.5 is in beta 2 I’ll test it and see if it solves the issue

I have the 16" M1 Macbook pro with this issue. Started sometime after Monterey 12.4. when it won't charge it won't charge, either from the mag-safe, from a USB cable in a charging brick, or from the dock at my desk. Rebooting is the only thing that helps. I do have Al Dente installed, so I wonder if that's a factor. I ran Onyx, so I'll see if that helps. Tempted to stop Al Dente to see if that's a factor, but it seems that people are having the issue with or without Al Dente. It's lucky that these days I am not tending to keep as complex a set of interrelated documents and apps open. This, and having to reboot so often, would have sucked badly if I were in such a work flow.

Same here since Monterey 12.4. M1 Max 16 64GB RAM. USB charging stops working (after sleeping) and needs a reboot to fix it. Worked flawless before, now I regret updating.

It's been two days since I ran Onyx, and I haven't had this problem since, in spite of several periods of plugging/unplugging this M1 MBP. I think maybe this is only hitting a relatively small subset of users? Otherwise the whole world would be screaming about it. So maybe it is some interaction between the 12.4 update and other aspects of the computer environment. And maybe Onyx helped.

Today had this issue AFTER restarting my Mac after several days. It does affect Thundernbolt charging (over a docking station) as well as USB-C charging. The Mac does not detect any input of charge and is even running in power saving mode. At least I now have pretty much every single problem with Monterey - yay.

Same Problem here with Macbook Pro 16 Apple M1 Max. After update to 12.4.

Stops charging either through usb-c or a charger and it works after reboot.

It happened twice since the update.
