absolutely - downloaded from HP website and just rewrote the OS version compatibility

finally some long awaited validation hahaha) thanks! anyone wondering - it works and is safe!

Thank you for providing this as a download. For whatever reason, the terminal commands were unable to get this installer to work on anything greater than MacOS 12.0 and the newer Apple updated driver will not work above 15.0

Confirming! Your modified file worked great on Sequoia 15.5 with my old (~2003) HP Color LaserJet 5550 series beast.

FWIW: The "Generic Postscript" driver "worked" too, but it was lacking the specific options for my printer... extra RAM, extra paper trays, and the EIO hard drive for print job storage. That last one would be part of the Print Dialog, but without the specific HP driver for this printer, it won't show up and you can't save jobs to the printer's hard drive. Thanks to you, all options are fully available now.
