Running 11.5.1 and it seems like after a while of usage does the computer pause when I turn caps lock on and off. I turn caps lock on and the text cant keep up with my keyboard, I turn it off and the same problem. It seems the only fix is too reboot, or log out of user account. Anyone else having this problem? Seems like a bug to me.

I'm having the exact same problem and it is quite frustrating. Ive tried reboot and I've tried reducing the number of applications that are open at a given time but things are not working. probably its a bug in the latest release. I need to stop the habit to immediately saying yes to new updates.

Strange for me the problem goes away after a reboot/log out of user account.

I'm not sure I understand the problem. Are you saying once you press the Caps Lock key, all your typing is delayed (that is, you're typing on the keyboard but the letters take a long time to appear on the screen)? Not happening for me on 11.5.1

In general it does not happen to me neither. But after a while of usage it does.

Ok, but did I accurately describe the problem you are having? If so, is that happening system-wide or in specific applications only?

I actually read your post last night, then came across a Reddit post of somebody with the same issue.

Hitting caps lock causes the typing to pause.

This was the posted solution.
Cant use this app or whatever it is. I believe in the latest version of Big Sur they have disabled beings able to use apps downloaded outside of the app store. I download this app and get the following message.

It’s in the security settings to allow apps from all and untreated sources.

You can also compile it yourself on your own machine so it will then be trusted by your mac too

Odd! I rarely use capslock so I hadn't noticed this, but I just tried it. If I press it enough I get a beachball.

Activity Monitor shows high % CPU (100+%) for WindowServer.

Can you verify if you see the same, @jwolf6589?

Maybe related to the issue I'm having with computer freezing, beachball, and high % CPU for WindowServer when using TouchBar?

Have you tried reset smc and PRAM? I did that few times before the system is stable.

that utility does not fix the problem (at least for me). i think it's fixing a different issue (where caps lock doesn't activate until a short time after pressing the key).

the freeze goes away after a reboot, but reappears some time later (hours? days?). i tried switching to a different user account (without logging out of my main account), and the problem does not occur on the second account! switching back to main account, problem still persists there.

@twanj : i also see the WindowServer CPU spike when the freeze happens.

I can get the problem to go away after a log out and log back in.

I am on 11.5.1 and I CAN still download apps from WHERE EVER I want.

To bypass GateKeeper right click on an app and press open.

I am glad I came across this thread. It was driving me nuts as I had to reboot every time it happens.

I just followed solution on reply #4 (thanks @Lihp8270), and it worked.

TESTING CHECK 12 W... (there was a long pause here) ...ORKS FOR ME

weird! Definitely a buglet. I'm booted into Monterey BTW so it's there too. It went away after I turned off caps lock. I seldom use caps lock so personally not a big deal but obviously needs fixing.

TESTING USING MBP'S INTERNAL KB 1234 5678

Not a comprehensive test but of the two kb's I use no apparent issues when typing on the internal MacBook kb, it only occurred (for me) when using my bluetooth Magic kb 2
