Number CT2KIT25664AC667 from the Crucial page will work. And any of the PC2-5300 laptop sized sticks will work from the OWC link.

My processor speed is 1.83 GHz. All I find on the OWC page is for 2.0 GHz or higher. Does that matter? I know, you did say any of the laptop sized sticks will work. I just want to be sure that "discrepancy" is ok.

RAM upgrade from hell

So the RAM I ordered from OWC arrived, I think on Wednesday. (It's been a crazy week, but I won't go into that.) About mid-afternoon today (craziness continues) I unplugged the Mini and turned it over, only to find out that the directions I had for popping the bottom off were useless. (round "cover", rotate, tip and remove) So I went to Best Buy North (I live about mid-way between two stores). We danced around the 2GB vs. 4/3.xGB issue, but then they said they don't have "real" Mac techs. I can go to Best Buy Far North or to Best Buy South.

I went south. Once again, the 2GB vs. 4/3.xGB dance commenced whereupon I noticed that my VGA adapter was missing. I retraced my steps to my car, looked in the car, not there. Meantime the Head Geek came out and met me at the counter, and we danced. Well, ok, they could do it, but, they need my power cord and supply. Theirs are too new. Apple, stop messing around with the power cords already!

Well BB North is now answering via the "e-mail system". (They would have to get in the queue with customers if they called.) Yes, they have the adapter. They took it off and forgot to put it back on. (Well, I knew from my last experience with the G3 this Mini replaced that they wouldn't have the adapter, so that's why I left it on there.) I drove back to BB North, then came home for dinner. Yes, I was late, and no, I didn't take my cell phone. And no, I didn't go back to BB South after dinner.

Now, they will replace the RAM, but they won't stand behind it if this 4GB-actually-works-but-Apple-won't-"certify"-it rumor (this is MacRumors, no?) doesn't pan out. If it doesn't, I'm going to be mad at the whole world, not just the computer industry. I plan to try next Saturday, unless something else comes up. Wish me luck!

Oh, and the following weekend, our son is getting married. Wish me luck for that while you're at it.
