So it's been over a month since the phone came out, and I'm curious if anyone has had any funny, embarrasing or weird experience with the iPhone out in public? (Either showing it off to friends or just being out there with your iPhone.) Share your stories! :p

Here's my weird experience -

I was at an ATT store to pick up a case (the Apple store didn't have what I wanted) and so after I picked up the case I wanted and went to pay, this mother was calling to check something, so the woman and the ATT guy told me to go ahead and get my thing. I hadn't brought my iPhone out at this point, but it was obvious that I was purchasing something for an iPhone. Anyways, the kid looked over and saw that I was purchasing a case for an iPhone, and he was like "OMG it's an iPhone!!!" I looked over and just nodded. Not so weird at this point, but ... well, as I was paying, the mother started to go into a lecture to her son regarding responsibility and paying ... LOL
Next thing I heard was "Yes, he probably saved up his money for awhile and purchased it." The boy responded "Yeah... I bet it cost a lot of money!"
and the mother was "Yeah, he worked really hard and then earned it from working hard .." and then I had purchased my case and then just nodded at them and then walked away.. lol. I didn't know what to respond with. I hadn't expected just by walking into the ATT store I would become a "lesson" or a way for the mother to teach her son. LOL

It's weird but it's still kinda funny.

I took a picture of this nice gift that i got for a girl i like / she likes me, and it also said "I Love You" on it.

I got a iPhone and she was like "ohhh ohh Let Me See!".

She goes in the pictures and uh...first pic was that.

Ha! Now that's a pretty good one. :) How'd that work out for ya?

I wouldn't be embarrassed about that. :p

while getting a physical the doctor saw that i set it on the table and started questioning me about it...during a physical

I had almost the exact same thing happen except I whipped out my iPhone and took the MILF home.

Heh, this happened at a recent doctors visit I had too, though not for a physical. I was in just to get some antibiotics for a cold I couldn't shake, but when the doc came back in after giving getting the strep test results, I was watching a video on the iPhone. He then asked me how I liked it and I gave him "The Demo".

It was slighly awkward, but he was cool about it.

Getting hit with a $3000 bill only to have it annulled, but not before a bunch of antisocial tech geeks on Digg reamed me for not being able to do advanced calculus in my head.

I have a Blackberry, and it has always been sort of the envy of other people at my school, but recently 2 people have told me that my phone sucks and they are going to get an iPhone. The funny thing is that AT&T doesn't have coverage in our area

I got really drunk. Got the great idea I'd walk home (2 miles away) and felt like text messaging as I do it. So I pulled out my iPhone from my holster, but it got stuck and flew out of my hand skidding across the street (cement).

I woke up the next morning only vaguely remembering it, and was really mad that it had scratched and what not.

The embarrassing/funny part is the fact that I didn't tell a single soul (my girlfriend) it happened for about a week because I was so embarrassed.

My very first call (it was an incoming call) and I hung up on the person. The damned "End Call" button is so big... and and and, I had barely just activated the phone and was not (still am not) used to how sensitive the touch can be.

I was in San Diego for vacation a couple of weeks ago, and was visiting the La Jolla area. I guess there was some kind of junior lifeguard camp going on or something, because the lifeguards were running these huge groups of kids around the resort area. I was trying to find the number of a taxi service when I hear "Is that an iPhone?" I look up and about 3 or 4 girls had broken rank to ogle my new toy. Maybe not a "weird" experience, but it made me chuckle anyway.

I do this almost daily.... Every phone I have had until now had the Talk Key on the LEFT and the end key on the RIGHT

Mine isn't all that great. But I was in a movie theater and the movie had like 20 mins before it started (I hate when people play on the phone during the movie) and me and my wife were browsing on our Iphones and you hear, from a row back, "Dude thats and Iphone, awh! and she has one too!" I look back to see two guys looking over our shoulders admiring the Iphone.

Also, I have sold 2 Iphone. I convinced my Boss (female) to get the Iphone. She wanted a Blackberry so she could get emails and such, but it wasn't too hard to sell here on this gem. The other My friend from High school came over and saw my iphone and it was the first time he saw one and he loved it cause he is into stock trading and being with cingular he decided to get one.
I think I should get like a referral bonus!:apple:

I'll go ahead and take the trophy for most embarrassing.

I just started working at my current company about two months ago. I get along great with my boss and it's pretty much been the first job where I can call my boss a friend. Well my sister works in HR at another company and told me about a job available that pays 2-3x what I make now.

I had just gotten home from work and started talking about a job I'm applying for with my girlfriend and how the interview is an hour long and I have to come up with an excuse to miss enough work to go take the interview. Well a few minutes into the conversation I thought I heard a faint voice and looked down and saw my phone was in my Incase pouch and then realized we had left the radio on upstairs.

So we continued talking and then I heard something faintly again so I pulled out my phone and it was connected to my boss. Somehow, in my pouch, my phone got unlocked and just happened to dial my boss while I'm having a conversation about interviewing for another job. Talk about my iPhone is out to get me, huh? So without saying a word I quickly hangup the call and tell my gf that he may have just heard what we were talking about. One minute later my iPhone beeps again letting me know I just received an email. It pretty much said "If you need to take time off for an interview just ask. By the way check your phone. It dialed me while you were having this conversation with your girlfriend."

So after having my stomach drop and laughing about it for a few minutes because I'd never heard of anything that randomly bad happening, I called my boss back and he answers the phone "Is this call intentional?" Yes. "I bet you're pretty red-faced right now, huh?" Yes. So he thought it was hilarious and I let him know I don't hate the job and I'm not actively looking for a new job or anything I just happen to have a chance of getting a minimum of a 100% raise and etc etc. He told me he understands completely and that's how the world works and that I don't need to worry about getting canned or anything for looking for a new job and he wishes me the best luck at the interview and would hate to lose me if I do get it, etc. etc. But, yeah. We both had a good laugh talking about it. Talk about embarrassing!

Now I'm still confused how my freaking phone dialed his number while in its pouch!

Not with the iPhone but my mom had the same problem once. She was complaining about her mother in law to her husband on a car ride. Then they realized her husband's phone had called his mom (her mother in law)...

i accidently dial at least one person per day. Don't know how, but my friends joke about it all the time. I think its the touchscreen activating in my pocket.

No idea.

Those kind of stories is why I got in the habit early on of locking my iphone before I stick it in my pocket... :D
