In the past year Apple has surprised me in what they've released. Updates and refreshes have been substantial.

Simple question, what would you like to see in the :apple:iPad 2G?

Choose your most wanted feature, and list others you'd like.

:apple:

longer battery life (can never have long enough ;))
more storage (again, can never have too many GB)
more RAM (not that I think the current iPad doesn't have enough)
faster processor (but that's almost a given, isn't it?)

So it seems you are a fan of the More is better always.

A poll is a nice idea, but could you change the camera option into two - a front facing only or a front and rear. I wouldn't mind a front one so that my fiancees parents can look up my nose when we Skype, but I don't want nor see a need for a rear camera because the iPad is just too big to use as a picture camera.

The best camera is the one you have with you. Considering how nice the ipad photo app is, it would be nice to have another direct use for it.

Sure - but how often do you leave the home with only the iPad and no cell phone?

Still nice to have the option if the need crops up. Camera opens up more possibilities (i.e. augmented reality apps).

I think a Facetime camera would make sense, but certainly not a rear camera. Seems too clunky for that; leave that to the smaller iPhone and iPod Touch.

There is already a thread on this. Stop making another one.

- lighter weight
- longer battery life
- faster CPU
- more RAM
- Retina display
- front facing camera with Facetime

- warp core with turbocharger from BORG ;)

Voted camera(s) but love resolution, too

So I would have argued that XGA resolution for 9.7" is just fine before the iPad came out. After using it for a few months, I'd still argue that... until I got my iPhone 4. Sharp, crisp small text is just tasty and satisfying and I hope the next iPad does have a 'retina display'.

Having said that, I do skype video chats every day and that's my number one feature. Rear camera makes sense for live video shoots to chase around my kids. I'm pretty good at blindly framing my shots with a MBP in my hands while a toddler toddles, but being able to use the screen as a viewfinder is really the taking it to the next level. Yes, I can do it on my iPhone 4, but seeing my family on the (retina?) 9.7" display will be great.

out of those, higher resolution. lighter weight is always nice. rear-facing camera? eh...

I want more RAM. Safari reloading all the time is annoying. also, gestures in Safari...I don't understand how Apple is the one pushing multitouch, but Safari doesn't support much of anything, both in the iPad and in OS X.

I really want a retina display but it won't happen so I want a higher res display - but that would mean all apps need to be scaled up.

So here is all the realistic iPad 2 predictions:

1) Front facing camera - combination of skype and multitasking.

2) Rear facing camera (3 megapixel, "720p" video cam) - combination of iMovie for iPad (which doesn't suck), and for AR apps.

3) I think 7 inch is too small for a tablet and 9.7 inch too big to take pics, I think an 8.5 inch screen with a smaller bezel would be cool.

4) More RAM, faster CPU, better graphics card.

More 3g options in the US. Maybe even 4g!
flash (i know it won't happen but i can still dream)
16:9 resolution

I don't live in the US - if you mean Verzion - the. There have been rumours.

Maybe even 4g

Not untill iPad 3.

flash (i know it won't happen but i can still dream)

Frash? HTML5 will replace almost all of flash VIDEO but with complex flash websites - not yet - YouTube HTML5 can't even support ads, annotations but can do some co stuff that flash can't (speed up / slow down).

16:9 resolution

It'll break all the apps - and it'll be worse for reading, browsing etc. 16:9 is only good for video.

Most of the websites I watch flash video on are network sites...Fox, CBS, NBC...and I know at least one of them said it would be too expensive and time consuming to convert all of their videos to HTML5. So not every company is willing to accept apple saying that flash is out and HTML5 is in. I also don't want to jailbreak.

Also for some reason a lot of local businesses have their entire sites done in flash. I was trying to look up a restaurants menu and it was only available on their flash site and at that moment I had to cuss them out. I'm not sure if I was cussing the restaurant for wanting their site in flash or apple for not supporting it.

I don't think 16:9 would be worse for reading or browsing....The laptop I am on now is 16:9 and browsing and reading on it are totally fine. And it doesn't have to break the apps either. If a 16:9 resolution would break the apps, I would rather vertical bars when I'm using apps instead of horizontal bars that take up half the screen when I'm watching a movie. That is just a personal preference...I have just always found that bars that change wide-screen to full-screen are less distracting, smaller, and don't result in the picture needing to be re-sized...when you try to watch something that is wide screen on a full screen...it re-sizes the picture and replaces half the screen with bars.

I always get pissed off when someone uses Flash on their site. It's usually implemented in a needlessly irritating way. I wish people understood that visitors to their websites come for the information, not for the (lower-case) flash. The bells & whistles were cool a decade ago, now they just get in the way.

Software update for the following:

- To be able to mirror the display instead of relying on apps to support external displays.

- Ability to add a webcam via the dock connector.

- File system that you can access when docked to your computer. Easy way to transfer files.

Edit: The ability to play movies purchased on iTunes via the VGA adapter.

-more ram
-front camera
-micro sd slot
-USB 2.0 plug
-retina display
-gyroscope

Faster processor & more RAM will be forgone conclusion come February 2011 (or Apr 2011). What people are screaming for is a front-facing camera and preferably on the long side of the bezel. How this can be implemented without breaking the classical design of iPhone, where the ff cam is on the short side, is beyond me. Windows netbook people I know want to switch to iPad for portability etc but their main 2 activities are internet/social networking & skyping where a front-facing webcam is a must.

A Native Drag & Drop Over WiFi

Say, you opened up 3 Safari tabs full of reading materials on your iMac/MacBook, and you want to continue reading all with iPad on your favorite recliner, or say, you want to show pics, clips, design ideas that you have been working on to your clients in the living room. Don't you wish you could transfer all that to your iPad with one swipe on your track pad/magic track pad from your main computer?

An SD card slot will be nice. The second iPad was revealed earlier this year, the first thought that came to my mind was : "This thing will be great for photographers who want to quick-preview their shots on the field!" And since more & more Nikon & Canon & Sony dSLRs are equipped with SD card slots, so should iPad.

Also: why can't Apple build a (rubberised) latch that opens up as a built-in stand to hold up the screen on a table and folds back flushed into the back plate?
