Moto G or Moto X?

I am completely happy with my iPhone 5C but I would like to get an android device to mess around with.

I have had an android in the past. From Fall 2011 to Spring 2012 I used an AT&T Avail that ran on 2.3 gingerbread and although it was good for the most part the phone was slow and unresponsive at times. Also every couple of days it froze causing me to have to take out the battery and put it back in. I eventually couldn't take it anymore and went back to carrying around a dumb phone and an iPod Touch. I did this until this past fall when I decided to get an iPhone 5C.

The iPhone is the best phone I have ever owned and works great with my macbook. I now want to give android another chance after seeing and reading how far android has come with Kit Kat. I have basically narrowed it down to the Moto G or the Moto X. I have done plenty of research and read reviews and I think either one would be a good choice. So basically can anyone tell me if my android experience would suffer if I chose the Moto G over the Moto X?

These are the phones I own right now: Nexus 4, Nexus 5, HTC One, Galaxy S3, Lumia 520, Lumia 1020, Lumia 1520, iPhone 5S and the Moto X. I have also owned nearly every iPhone generation as well.

Out of all these phones, I have found the Moto X to be the best. This, despite the 720p screen and not 1080p, not the fastest CPU or GPU or the biggest, etc... The Moto X is like the iPhone in that the hardware and software were merged almost flawlessly to work in concert with one another. Normally, I root every Android phone out of the box and then throw a ROM on it. Even the Nexus phones. The Moto X is the only phone I have owned that I have never had the urge to do that with. It is damn near perfect as it is. If you can't tell, I love the Moto X. And for less than $300 for an unlocked version, you simply can't go wrong with it.

But these are just my personal opinions. I don't own the Moto G, but I do know that it is missing certain features that I like on my Moto X like 'always listening'. If I had a choice between the two, I'd pick the Moto X.

Damn straight. The Moto X is a gem and is vastly underrated. Easily the best Android phone I've ever owned, and I miss it dearly.

Looks like the pricing went back up. It was $299 when I bought mine, then they had a deal for $329. I guess it went back up. Still, even at $400 unlocked, it is a deal.

If I buy the Verizon no contract Moto X can I just use it on wifi and not have to get a Verizon account?

Buying off contract will just send you that carrier's model and sim card. It won't ask for an account or require activation to use on just wifi.

Moto X just for Moto Maker, Active Display, Motorola Assist, Always Listening Hands-Free Control, Quick Gesture Capture, etc.

Moto G is a very, very nice phone. But you lose all the software exclusives Motorola put on their X flagship. With a Moto G, it is like the GPE/Nexus version of the Moto X. Or a mini-version. Great price but a very bland near-stock Android while the X uses the same but has many custom features on it.

If I wasn't using the One, the Moto X would be my daily driver right now. The Lazy Phone ads are hilarious and Motorola focused on real useful features. Not gimmicks or a spec numbers game. I'm hoping the successor of the Moto X in the X2 or whatever they call it will add more refinements and better design. I find it ironic both pioneers in Motorola and Nokia both use X for their Android phone names.

Well I decided to go with the Moto X over the Nexus 5. My father has the droid Maxx which has the same internals but with a larger screen and battery. I found the 4.7 in scene on the X to be the sweet spot for me. I ordered a Navy Blue back with Silver accents. I know that's playing it safe, but I like Navy blue. Pics to follow. Moto X for the win.

The motomaker is enough reason to splurge on the Moto X. The only thing that makes me hesitant is that what if I don't like android. Could I just be feeling that the grass is greener on the other side? Anyone else own an iPhone and an Android phone? I just don 't want to customize a Moto X and then not like android all that much.

You'll have 14 days to return it if you don't like it. There is no risk to order one.

If you can use iOS you can use Android. Fundamentally they work the same. It's like an Audi vs BMW. There are differences and each company has it's own methods of achieving the same thing but if you can drive one you can drive the other. It's all a matter of whether or not those differences work better for you or not regardless of which platform it is.

So I sold my Note 3 and I've bought a Lumia 1520 for phablet excess - but to keep me in the google fold I'm thinking of getting the Moto X.

I throw caution into the wind with the Moto X considering the size of the Note 3 and Nokia 1520. Time will tell, you may not end up using the Moto X very much. Or perhaps just maybe wait for the X2 which probably isn't too far out.

Moto X ($400) if you want something really nice. Moto G (GSM $180-200, CDMA ~$100-130) if you just want to dip your toes into Android.

I have the Verizon Moto G as a backup phone and for the $100 I paid for it, it's excellent. And since it only cost me $100, I can still afford to get a Moto X if I wanted one.

My concern would be that it wouldn't release in Europe at all - especially given Lenovo buying them.

I use my Moto X more than my Lumia 1520, simply because of the Moto X unique features, coupled with stock Android features. It's a potent combo, even if the phone is considerably smaller than the 1520,

After much hemming and hawing I have decided on the Moto X over the Moto G mostly because of the Motomaker. When I saw that the Motomaker had added orange as a customizable color I designed one and ordered it. So my Moto X has black front, orange back and metallic blue accents. I'm so excited for it to come.

The moto X is a good choice. Its much faster than the G, not that the g is slow, but the adreno 320 and krait 300 cores make a huge difference over the adreno 305 and cortex a7 cores.

Moto X, the Moto G has a 5mp camera vs 10mp on the X, No LTE on the Moto G, Moto G is much slower, but no LTE and a crappy camera should be enough reason oh, and don't forget the massive processor upgrade

Please tell me you got one! Hell, I'd buy 6, sell 5 of them on eBay for $130 and with the proceeds, buy a new Moto X to go with the Moto G you have left over.
