Moto G2 not seeing lollipop update

For such a popular phone, you would think I would get more info by just googling this, but no dice. My Moto G2 isn't seeing the Lollipop update and claims to be up to date. Motorola customer service told me to just wait for it and it will alert me to update eventually because they push it out in batches, but it's been about a month now since it was released on this model so there's no reason why I shouldn't see the update. I also can't use the motorola desktop app to do the update because it won't work on Yosemite, couldn't even install it. It's 2 years out of date and works officially up to Mountain Lion only. What are my options here?

All the info I've read points to only the first gen model starting to receive the OTA; nothing about the 2014 model is mentioned. Where'd you see that it was already getting updated?

On a side note, the design of the front of this phone is kind of ugly. Those giant staple looking things on the top and bottom look like they were added in as an afterthought.

After my experience with the Nexus 5 I would not upgrade to Lollipop, at least not yet.

With 5.0 I only see problems and not a single advantage. If you have Kitkat, stick it it. It's a mature OS that runs very well. Lollipop has too many changes for the purpose of changing, not of making things better.

If you ask me for one single advantage of LP I can't name any. Not a single one.

Not even smart lock, priority notifications, material design, longer battery, ART (default), Android on more devices (such as TV's) or the 5000 new API's?

Do you just... not see them?

No, I don't see them.

• smart lock
I need to unlock twice now. Before just once.

• priority notifications
Not sure what that is. You could before already already adjust when incoming to see and what not.

• material design
For me Nexus 5 the material is exactly what it was before.

• longer battery
Not sure if the battery inside got longer, but battery life hasn't changed. As bad as before.

• ART
No idea what that is. Something I don't need I guess.

• Android on more devices
How does that benefit MY device?

4.4.4 was a good, stable well working system. With 5.0 the made changes just to change something, not to make things better. 5.0 fells more like iOS, with being less intuitive, and more clicks required to do something.

  • Smart Lock: Is not what you think it is. It prevents you from requiring a password either using your face, a trusted place or a trusted device.
  • Priority Notifications: A better way of getting notifications. Including them being on the lock screen.
  • Material Design: It also changes the softkeys and the status bar icons and colours.
  • Longer Battery: Project Volta.
  • ART: Android Runtime is much better than the previous Dalvik runtime, which used the JIT compiler. It increases performance and battery life.
  • Android on more devices: Having Android TV or Android Wear saves battery on your phone as you would not need to check notifications on it, unless they are really important and a voice reply is not suitable.

    Oh, and you forgot about the API's. Don't forget, just because you do not know what these new features are, or how they work, it doesn't mean they are not there.

I am not claiming there are no improvements somewhere. Problem is, I don't SEE any, as in notice any.

I feel like certain functions where perfect. Like the silent mode/flight mode options from the power button. That was changed for the reason that '5.0 must be revolutionary and nothing can be the same as before'.

BTW, my Nexus 5 lags now and a few apps start quite a bit slower. Some are crashing on start and not usable anymore. Sometimes I get blank screens for a moment. The system feels less smooth and less stable.

The Nexus 5 is old by now - I wouldn't expect it to run well on LP.

A one year old phone is old and shouldn't be able to run the latest OS smoothly?

If that's the standard then I'm heading back to iOS. Thankfully it's not and that's why I'm waiting for Google to get their **** together and fix the bugs in Lollipop on the Nexus 5.
