Everyone knows 3.5 is the perfect screen size. Steve said so, he did testing! :)

well...maybe for HIS hands anyway.....but then i have big hands....so the GS4 5 inch screen is perfect for one handed operation for me....

Well actually, 3.5 inch IS the perfect screen for one handed operation.

But that doesn't mean its the perfect size for a mobile phone for everyone.

It is not 2007 anymore.
Why not 3.4 inch?

Care to show a proper proof about that 3.5 inch claim? Also, not everyone has same sized hands. What about people who even find the 3.5 inch to be too big? (And yes, there are those).

I just want to point out I doubt we will be able to customise actual specs such as screen size, processor etc.
It would be way too expensive and frankly no body should expect customisable specs.

I'm still waiting for touch screen keyboards of today to be better than physical keyboards of 2010. Text prediction technology of 2013 is great at fixing errors, but the fact remains that I still make more typing errors with touch screen keyboards than on my physical keyboard from my old phone I got in 2010. There is still not substitute for tactile feedback before you press the key.

I'm 6'3 with rather large hands and I use a Nexus 4. I see a lot of talk about people saying "fine for one handed use" without ever defining what "fine" actually means.

To me, fine for one handed use means I can use it with one hand and reach any part of the screen without requiring me to adjust my grip even slightly. The Nexus 4, being "only" 4.7", does not fit this. For one handed use, touching two opposite corners will require some strain and/or grip adjustment.

Now that doesn't mean you can't use it with one hand. Most of my one handed use is just flipping through feedly and scrolling down pages. But when I need to have access to all parts of my screen for whatever reason, 4.7" is too big for one handed use. The 3.5-3.8" range really is ideal for this.

If people are going to keep saying something is too big or "fine" for one handed use, be more specific and actually define what you are saying.

It looks like an ugly HTC One...

Very plastic looking indeed, but hopefully this means it could be Nexus device priced ??? I don't really mind things being plastic though as long as build quality is good... (build quality and build materials are two different things). :)

I assume the coloured shells leaked earlier are snap on replacements for the back panel ?

It's also hard to gauge a sense of scale, it could be a 4.3 / 4.7 or 5" device ?

Perhaps as part of the "designed by you" part, you can choose a metal back or frame? You would have to pay more, obviously, but maybe that is part of the flexibility Motorola is offering.

Not a bad looking devices, from what we can see. That being said, nothing in the rumored specs would make me choose this over my One.

My predictions:

-4.3-4.6" screen size
-1280X720
-2GB RAM
-Dual core CPU
-2000-2200 mAh battery
-$200 on contract for 16 GB
-$600 off contract
-8MP back camera
-And from the pictures, it looks like power button and volume buttons are on the same side

I tend to agree but hope you're wrong. There's got to be something beyond the customization of front/rear panels to make this device worthwhile, else 'Googarola' is IMO, wasting our time.

My concerns..

Google reportedly wasn't happy with whatever Moto already had in the pipeline to use as a Moto X device, yet the leaked specs/images of the the Droid Ultra, Ultra Mini and Ultra Maxx seem more impressive in almost every regard compared to the rumored X device. What exactly was so terrible about these other devices that led Google towards this X device which quite frankly is pretty underwelming? And in what way does Google think this device is better than the Ultra devices? And why would anyone choose this over a better spec'd One, S4 or upcoming Optimus G2?

I haven't read every leak/rumor about all of these devices, so forgive me if I'm mistaken with my assumptions but, am I missing something?

That... would be... GENIUS!!!!

If we could choose hardware parts with stock android... They could hit a homerun.

720p IPS screen for me (no need for more), 3000 battery, microSD, 32GB storage, 2 GB RAM or 3 if possible, etc.

It would be great, but I'm sure it's not gonna be hardware parts what we could choose.

This would be brilliant if the hw was customizable. We already do this with PC's anyway

If Google can pull this off, they have a homerun here

Rumors said 10 mpx camera and 48 hour battery life worry-free, so it must have a 3300 battery or so, just like a Maxx.

I don't see them releasing a phone with such hype with just that specs. Remember, this is supposed to be their flagship device, not mid range.
