I'm having this exact issue on Snow Leopard and have also tested the mouse on other systems and it works fine.

The interesting thing is that I ran Snow Leopard for weeks with a non-updated Logitech Control Center. Everything worked fine. After updating the Logitech software, the problem began.

I found a post on Logitech's forum:
http://forums.logitech.com/t5/Mice-With-Mac/MX-Revolution-double-clicking/m-p/390631#M2550

That is curious. We can confirm it happens for non-logitech mice, as well as new, old, and no LCC installed.

Same issue here using a Logitech VX Nano. I'd say the most annoying is closing a tab in safari and have it open a new one over and over again.

How does something as simple as this get screwed up? SO frustrating.

Ok, I just tested my wired Logitech MX310 and the double click issue is gone. So I'm assuming it's only a wireless mouse issue.

Logitech's continued problems with their Mac software has me convinced that their programmers are literally a bunch of monkeys in a room, banging away on keyboards. And they've been at it so long that they've managed to write Shakespeare, but this driver software is coming along more slowly.

Same problem and not logitech as it includes the trackpad

Since installing snow leopard I have had the same issue + on the trackpad...recognition of the first click requires a heavy heavy click.

I have a Logitech mouse, no idea which. Occasionally it's given me the identical problem in Tiger, Leopard and Snow Leopard. I change the batteries, and the problem goes away. I really think this is just a sign of low power coming from the double-A's.

I have an MX Revolution (rechargeable) and still see the problem after a full recharge...

Having similar problems with a Logitech S530 wireless keyboard/mouse combo. Running SL, updated to LCC 3.1, tried Steermouse, and getting the same click errors. I can't be certain but I'm sure that I started getting the errors before upgrading from Leopard to SL. Clicks sometimes (usually) register as double clicks, selecting text usually doesn't work until about the 4th/5th attempt, click/dragging files usually drops files half way through the move. Using the trackpad on my macbook pro 15" 2.2Ghz is ok. Getting really annoyed with this now - was thinking of ditching the mouse but if other species of rodent are playing up I'll maybe hold off for now and see if we can get to the bottom of the problem.

Any help/updates appreciated.

Regards

Stuart

If you've changed the battery and you're still getting problems, Logitech mice often reset and power switches on the bottom. I've reset/restarted mine and gotten better results.

identical issues here - it's maddening. trying to multiple select in a finder window will drive you batty.

13" macbook (nov 2008)
snow leopard (OS X 10.6.1)
logitech VX Nano

fresh batteries, power on/off, etc. doesn't help. definitely something with mouse.

trackpad seems immune - i haven't had any mis-clicks there.

Still having this problem :( It's driving me nuts. Sometimes my mouse will double click mid-drag. I'll be dragging a file somewhere, then my mouse will drop the file, then click on it one more time. The other most annoying part about this bug is that it will happen while im moving safari, then my mouse will double click and minimize safari.

Still having the same problem, too. I did a fresh install of Snow Leopard this weekend and didn't install the Logitech driver (I have an MX Revolution). I'm getting less double-clicks but they're still there. I should be getting my Magic Mouse this week. I hope the move to Bluetooth fixes the problem. I also did a bug report on the Apple Developer site but it's still open after more than three weeks. Perhaps its being worked on for V10.6.2?

Some relief

Maybe it's just with the Logitech mouse, or maybe it's the way I've started holding down the mouse button, but I seem to have less issues if I click in the space between the file name and the date.

Of course you need to be in list view, but there's that white space in between the title and the date modified. I have less double clicks in that area. Don't ask me why. I haven't got a clue.

To those of you who are having problems, do you have your mouse plugged directly into your mac, or do you have your mouse plugged in through a USB hub, such as the one built into your keyboard or monitor (excluding imac), or a dedicated usb hub?

I'm using a wireless mouse (MX Revolution) and the USB transceiver is connected to my keyboard USB port. Maybe I'll try it connected directly into an iMac port...

Let me know what happens. I also had my mouse plugged into my Apple keyboard, which is plugged into my mac pro. Using a mouse through a USB hug like that may be what's causing the problem. Im sure we will find out soon.

I'm also in the wireless category: Logitech VX Nano wirelessly connected through USB dongle to my macbook.

Just heard back about my bug report on the Apple Developer site. They asked for my System Profiler log (forgot to attach it to my initial report). No answers yet but at least it got attention. I'll report here as soon as I hear of a solution.

Well, i've had my mouse plugged directly into my mac pro for a few days now, and the double click issue is still happening. This means usb hubs arent the problem :(

I assumed it was the mouse since I had the issue with my logitech nano awhile ago and had it replaced, thought it was just that....maybe not.

I've been having the double-clicking problem for a few days now, but I am using the trackpad on my Macbook Pro (1st Gen) and did a clean install of Snow Leopard, so apparently it came with a recent update.

Hey guys, I posted a reply in the other thread regarding right clicks and dock freezing problems. I hope it helps u out too.

Taken from the other thread, coz I'm just too lazy to retype...

Hey all, I too experienced this extremely retarded problem, but its all good for my SL and mouse AND dock now. This only applies to those with Windows and Bootcamp.

Earlier today, the whole freeze thing (for the dock) and right-click problems swamped both OSes. What I did was to log into Windows, (while facing the problems) and reinstalling the logitech software for my bluetooth mouse again followed by a restart which brought my mouse back to normal. And best of all, after I logged back to OSX, the freeze problems disappeared, as if it didn't happened in the first place

What I am using.
Snow Leopard Upgrade CD
Logitech VX470 Bluetooth Wireless Mouse

What I did. (Chronologically)
1. Under OSX, I installed the Logitech Control Centre Installer (for Snow Leopard), which can be found here.

2. Installed the LCC app, but problem still persisted

3. Bootcamp-ed to XP, realized the loss of right-click problem.

4. Re-installed the Logitech Media Centre for Windows (can be found here)
Choose your logitech mouse model
(32-bit for me) and restart comp
Disconnected my bluetooth mouse and re-paired it again
After restart, everything was smooth for XP

5. Logged back to OSX.
Problem Solved.
(for me that is...)

I don't know if I got lucky but that was everything I did, somehow things worked and I'm sharing this to you all. For those who just use OSX, all the best/ happy waiting.

I hope this helps. Don't stone me if things don't turn out the way I said it would:p

If true, we can rule out external driver issues (IE, not [Your Mouse Brand Here]'s issue), this pretty much makes it Snow Leopard IO issue.
