Ohio - GO BUCKEYES!
I was sorely disappointed by the Apple 5s release. Fingerprint technology is great, but the phone still looks and feels like the first one I purchased years ago! The iPhone is a wonderful marvel of technology. But, I'm bored and stuck into the limited flexibility that Apple provides to it's users. I am moving to the Galaxy IV and I'm happy about my decision. Yes, the phone is made of plastic, but as a user I have greater freedom! Yes, there will be some disadvantages, but I'm ready to move from Apple's way of managing their cult.

I was considering a move as well. I'm sticking with apple but I hope that you like it. I really think that both operating systems (and larger phones) have their place.

Now, let's read all the people who mock your decision in 3..2..1..

i was there, moved from the 3gs to the galaxy s2 .. now 2 years later, i'm a happy iphone5 user and to me, android is a terrible platform. Android is not for me. I'm a developer and i have to tweak things all day long - and i HATE doing stuff like that on my phone.
If you like tweaking and trying out crazy stuff (if you are the casemodder, overcloacking type on the pc) android is your platform.

if you like a phone that is fun and just works, get an iphone.

Now, let's read all the people who mock your decision in 3..2..1..

What would you expect on a mac forum????????

I'll start off...

1) It's funny how you talk about the 5S being the same old, yet you go the S4 which is even less of an upgrade from the S3 in comparison to the 5s.

2) Wow... of all the new features... fingerprint is the only one you chose to focus on...

3) Thanks for letting us know. Still don't get why the lot of you feel compelled to start a thread on a mac forum about how you are going to move onto the competitor.

Another classic case of someone only wanting a different shell/bigger screen. Components? Who needs components? Just toss the same components inside a new shell and bigger screen. Now that's innovation!

Simple. They are needy individuals who don't get a lot of attention in real life so they seek it on the Internet. He knows his thread will create a reaction.

I expected exactly what we are getting.

But I'll say again, I think andriod fits some people nicely and I just think that some people are taking it as a personal insult that someone would choose an andriod device over an apple device. I mean, how dare they?

No... nobody cares about that. People get insulted when they makes posts like this.

This is the same as if I go to a Mitsubishi forum and start a thread proclaiming, "I'm moving onto Hondas".

So go ahead, go to the competition. If that's what tickles your pickle, more power to you. But if you choose to start a thread on MacRumors about how you're switching to Android, I'm going to poke some fun at you. And it has absolutely nothing to do with the utility of the competition's phones (I like many droids as well).

It's not like the post is just "I"m leaving bye." He/She is actually stating some reasons why they are leaving. That may be relevant to apple users if they intend for apple to retain some of these people in the future. I see no problem with pointing out what made the person switch. It's letting us know the flaws of the apple system and what needs to be worked on. I think some of us are just too sensitive.

Letting us know the flaws of the Apple system? As soon as Apple goes the route of droid or the windows platform, you get errors, viruses, corruption, and crap. Hence why Apple continues to developer their product the way they do, and watch their sales go nuts.

Read up on the Samsung Galaxy S Froyo debacle, especially for Samsung Vibrant users. The short version is Samsung conspired with T-Mobile and possibly others to not release promsied Android updates. Why? Because Samsung wanted to force people to abandon the Galaxy S and buy their newest phone. It was a major screwing of consumers by Samsung, I even think lawsuits were filed. It also helped fuel the burgeoning ROM modders you see at XDA Developers and others.

I still have that Galaxy S. And it still is on Android 2.1, its at least FIVE major updates behind, including Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, ICS, and JellyBean. Outrageous.

After I went through that, I swore Samsung, never again. To this day Android support is horrendous due to multiple manufacturers pumping out phones hand-over-fist, then abandoning the handsets.

Good luck with your new phone.

I think Android is a great platform, it's fantastic on the Moto X, Nexus and GPE phones.

The S4 is the wrong path to travel if you are leaving the iPhone. The S4 (atheistic's aside) is a laggy, clunky mess.

Confused....

...as to why people feel they need to go to a particular forum to ANNOUNCE they are leaving a particular phone! I file this under my "Who the hell cares" file! How old are the people that feel the need to post such things? If I decided to change phones today what am I seeking by posting it here? Do I want someone to stop me from doing it? Do I need the approval of others to validate my decision? Is my self esteem that low that I can't make a decision on my own without a "community" of absolute strangers advising me?:confused:

Quite frankly I read the responses just to get a laugh. I'm not posting to flame, but it just boggles the mind how serious some people take making a simple decision.

BTW, good luck with that! ;)

He's not pointing out Apple's flaws. He's pointing out his own personal opinion about what he doesn't like about the new phone. It's just like telling someone you don't like carrots and you're not going to eat them any more, and you're telling people this in a carrot forum. I really don't understand the need to do this.

You'll be back...guaranteed. ;)

Tried it myself and couldn't wait to get my iPhone and ios back. Wanted a larger screen (which was nice) but realized everything else is sub par. I now no longer take my iPhone for granted. I am however, looking forward to the iPhone 6 with the larger screen but I can wait.

Good for you, I think you'll enjoy the S4. Pay no attention to all these rambling butt hurt comments.

BTW .. What iPhone are you coming from?
