Same issue. Only redownloading updates.

Restart computer, do not open any other app, just launch any Office app and go to Help > Check For Updates and see if the install now goes through.

Repeating - Do not open any other app - especially Safari. There seems to be some issue with MS updates while Safari is open.

So check this install ccleaner go to startup disable and enable auto update and it will work lol idk why
