I hate to create a 3rd post on the same app, but I don't think I can edit the other post titles. I have no problem with the mods merging the posts and using this title.

Anyways, Weightbot is now available and you can download it here.

We really love to hear your feedback.

Here's the screenshot if you haven't seen it yet:

I promise, this is the last post I will create regarding the app. :)

Yea, right... :D

I'm kidding, really well done.

I wanted to give you some feedback, since I did download this and have already had a good play with it. The chart, seems that it's fixed and shows only 7 days. It would be nice it there were options to show a longer or greater range. Most people only lose a pound or 2 a week when they are doing well.

The other thing would be the ability to export the data back to the PC.

Otherwise a really nice interface and a well designed app, thanks.

I just bought it, I don´t think that I would download such app normally, but the user experience is so great in Weightbot that I simply have to use it.

The app just looks and feels great!

Agreed, it's the user interface that made me buy it, and I certainly wouldn't if it looked like any old standard app.

Just shows how putting a bit of effort into the UI and visuals of an app (including the icon) can boost sales.

Great app too!

Oh and in the next update please sort out extra units like stones for us UK users!

Here we go again more crap for Iphone, me is now really looking at the Nokia N96

Yes, because you will be forced by large men with guns to install them. Better not buy a Mac either. I hear they sell software you might not like for those too.

As for the the app. I loved the interface alone enough to go out and buy it. I love the fact that you kept yourselves limited to doing a small set of things very well. As a developer myself (though not for the iPhone) I know how tempting it can be to just add that one other cool feature, then another…

Really, this was anticipated??? How many people were waiting for this?? I mean congrats and all, but highly anticipated maybe a stretch perhaps. How about, I released and app people may like as a subject? I myself work out 6 days a week, this app isnt anticipated by me, someone who is in your demographic for the app....just my .02

Good luck with your app, I just disagree with highly anticipated part

Well, I am an amateur competitive body builder. And this application is useless , as BMI calculations are way off for me. And I really don't need a weight tracker.
I use 'absolute fitness' application everyday. Now make a similar application WITH this interface, I'd be willing to pay $50 for that one.

So, I think it's a very good start. If you're planing to make a fully functional advanced fitness application in the future.

Our initial screenshots have received almost 7000 uniques, we've been getting tons of links in as well as emails regarding the release of the app. Of course not as much as lets say a game, but for a simple weigh tracking app? I'd say it's quite a feat. Anyways, we are excited despite some of the trollish (not yours) comments. :) We really appreciate those who supported our version 1.0 efforts. We have a lot of improvements in the pipeline.

I think people get the wrong idea about the app. This was never designed to be an advanced fitness app. I've stated many times, if you are looking for an advanced weight tracking app, look elsewhere. There are many much more complex and feature rich dieting and fitness apps on the app store now. This is the weight tracking app "for the rest of us". It's purposely simple and to the point. This app was made for people who normally wouldn't care to track their weight and definitely don't care about advanced features.

But with that said, we do want it to do what it does well. So we will make improvements in the areas that we feel will be useful for the average person who's interesting in "casual" dieting. It's widely known that BMI isn't the most accurate way to measure how fit a person is. In fact it's been know to be flawed when it comes to those with extreme muscle mass. But the majority of users aren't built like you.

It's impossible to build an app that works for everyone. If we built weightbot to fit your needs, then it would probably be too complex for the average user to enjoy using. So unfortunately sacrifices have to be made somewhere. We will be continuing to stick with our vision for this app which is the "iLife" of weight tracking/dieting, not a "pro" app. But yes there are many improvements that need to be made and we are listening to our customers. Remember this is version 1.0. We did pretty much the bare minimum needed to release a fully functioning application with lots of polish. What we really wanted is user feedback to help steer this little app and now we are getting it.

I really appreciate your thoughts though. Constructive criticism is always a good thing. :)

Well I can only speak on my own behalf but I anticipated this app very much, based on the screenshots and I looked forward to play with it myself. I think you have shown that it is possible to make even a very basic app like this feel so appealing that you got to have it, even if you don´t have a real need for it. I really look forward to see what you will make in the future :)

Vey nice app, the interface is amazing.

Hey radiantm3, can you tell us anything about features you're planning to add in the future?

Sure. Here are some things you can expect in the future:

- Ability to Backup/Restore your data
- Moving Average line in the graph view
- Multiple graph views (Month/Year)
- Removal of the 90 day limitation to modify data
- Gestures to jump faster through dates/weight measurements in the scroller.
- Alternate data view with information like lbs lost to date, lbs lost per week/month, lbs. left to reach goal, etc.
- Localization
- Option to attach other details to each weight entry (notes for example)

We have a ton of ideas. Some that just didn't make it into the original 1.0 version and others we got from user feedback. The list above is probably the most requested and what we feel are most important right now.

Wow, what a fantastic app, congrats!!!! I think you have got it spot on aiming this app at the general user, and not another serious fitness app. I use the Wii Fit most days, just for half an hour to keep trim and slightly toned, I'm not into proper body building! This app is perfect for keeping a record of the results on my iPhone, and the user interface is just perfect :D

As it stands I think this is a 9/10. I think you are already aware of the improvements I would like to see to make it a 10/10, but I have listed them here just to add more weight :D

- Ability to scale the graph (perhaps with the pinch gestures to increase and decrease the scale).
- UK units to show stones (1 stone = 14 pounds).
- No date limit for how far back in time you go. I would like to be able to enter data back to January 08. This would then require a way to scroll faster.
- The option to add a time limit for reaching your goal weight so you can see how well you are doing.

Thanks again, love this app :D

For me, this App was highly anticipated. I hope more developers will follow your lead. The sounds are delightful and the interface is ground-breaking! Let's utilize pinch somewhere and make this the quintessential application.

Seems like a cool idea. Instead of having to use MS Excel or some other graphing program (which would require you to walk to your comp, open the program, etc), this is right there on your phone. It's also cool because if you are at the gym, you can discretely enter your weight. Nice. :)

Supercool

From a development point of view your app is super cool. How did you get the custom sliders to work? I'm particularly interested in how you got the little overhanging part to display over the slider and how the shadow on the slider works. Its really done well.

Percent body fat?

I have a digital scale that also measures body fat. Would it be possible to record daily percent body fat as well?

Not currently, but we've gotten quite a few requests for that so it is in our pile of possible features to think about. At the very least, we will be adding the ability to attach notes to your daily weight which could include your body fat %.

I would buy this in a heartbeat (ha!) if you could record fat %. I would love to see a graph for fat % as well.
