Yes, because downsizing a desktop OS to fit the tablet form factor has worked out so well for Windowz.

This. +100
I'm not saying that iOS for iPad could be way better and powerful, but I don't want Mac OS X on a tablet. It would be cool, but the touch input is way different from the mouse.

iPad needs a much much improved (and seperate) iOS (or just OS X) than in iPhone, otherwise it´s possibilities are hugely wasted.

I don't think it works that way. iOS 4.2 is unified only in name, any of those who downloaded the betas will testify that there are like 5 or 6 versions of iOS 4.2 So development for each iDevice, from what I understand, is independent.

Yes, the iPad has his own version of iOS, but the main route is the same.

If the MBA would have iOS, would people think that´s a good idea? I don´t think so. It´s the same thing with iPad. People are just buying the hype, because Steve said it was "magical". Yeah right!

iOS is only for 3,5 inch devices! To try to push it in ten inch device is just sadly obvious for Apple taking the easy and lazy way out to make easy money and not care about innovation at all.

I mean come on, who (with a working brain and common sense) would want a ten inch device that has a mobile OS? Seriously! It´s a disgrace and just a plain fail from Apple. And oh, I don´t care how many units have been sold, that doesn´t make a product decesserily good.

I think the sooner people realize that iOS IS that mythical Mac OS 11 we were all waiting for (albeit in "11.1" form), the sooner people will stop asking for OS X on tablets.
