I want to get the 11", 4GB ram, & 128 SSD. This will be my secondary computer, so I'm trying to cut corners with $$. I will use this for MS Office, temp storage of photos, and minor LightRoom & Photoshop work. Any heavy photo processing will be done on my home computer.

Should I save the $100 and stick with the 1.4ghz, or bite the bullet and get the 1.6ghz. In my mind, I hate to pay the $100 extra because for the same price I could get the 13" with a 1.86ghz. But I want the 11" for mobility.

Would you get the 1.6ghz again based on your usage so far? Thanks

I was in a similar situation. While I thought the MBA13 was a better bargain, it was simply too big, almost as large as my hp work laptop. So, I was getting the MBA11. 4G of memory and the 128G SSD were not optional for me, which left the CPU as the only other option. Given what the price is, another $100 wasn't a hard decision.

Excellent review, thank you.

What backpack are you using there?

I'm using just a north face recon. Since I ride a bike, this is a great backpack. I need a case for my MBA 11. Something thin and small. I did notice something that I forgot to mention into review. Even though it aluminum it does get nicked quite easily.

Since this being my new baby, i'm ultra careful.

I have a Speck Satin on my 15" MBP. I literally put it on my MBP within minutes of taking the Mac out of the box. So I've become very accustomed to the "grippiness" of that case.

Unfortunately, I'd forgotten just how slippery the Macs are when naked. I've already dropped my MBA twice, both times as I was leaning forward and it just slipped right off my lap. Fortunately, my computer bag was between my feet so the MBA fell onto that and not straight down to the floor.

But it does make me realize how quickly I gotta get some kind of grippy thing (skin or case) onto the MBA. I don't care if it adds a little bit of weight, its better than dropping it!

More testing complete:

Starting at 80% - at 50% brightness, ran Formula one qualifying from the Japan Race.

Time Stamps include: 80% 9:35pm Running .mp4 (standard resolution, 1.5GB File)

66% 10:03PM
47% 10:45PM (running time 1:10)
37% 11:05PM (Running time 1:20)

From the looks of it, standard definition video runs at 2 minutes of video for every percent. Which would give 200 hours of video? or 3 hours and 20 minutes.

CPU load: 18.9 to 19.7 using quicktime player.
