I know there are benchmarks starting to show up. I still thought it might be helpful to some to see how my new iMac scored.

Ordered it on launch day:

2017 5K 27", 512GB SSD, 16GB RAM, Radeon Pro 580

(I wasn't sure we'd see aftermarket RAM so quickly, so Apple got me for an extra 8GB - $200 - ouch)

Thanks. This is exactly the config I'm going for. I was hoping for around 22K but 19.7K will have to do. I might hold off until December for the Pro, I will doing a lot of C4d + Vray and photoshop, then booting into windows for some PC gaming. So I might get the 1TB version so I can 70/30 partition the SSD for W10 boot camp.

I use my iMac primarily for video editing and photo work, so I went with the 512GB SSD and use external storage for my media. Makes sense for you to consider the larger drive going with dual boot.

I have same imac. My bootcamp is on an external SSD drive, more convenient and space saver for my internal drive.

Looks like the i7 is a decent upgrade for most of us here. Here's my Geekbench4 results that I had posted in another thread earlier. It was a my fist benchmark with nothing installed besides the 32 GB or RAM.

I'm planning on upgrading my 2009 iMac to a 2017 iMac. Can you point me in the right direction on how to move my bootcamp partition to an external SSD? Did you attach via USB3? Thanks!

Yeah, whats the deal with putting Windows on an External Now! Is it easy or do you need to clone it on.

This method worked well for me, and it's quite easy.

Yes i'm using an external SSD samsung T3, via USB3. Very happy with this solution!

I do similar work and did exactly the same thing [rhino, key shot etc, adobe]. This iMac is very smooth to use and quick. Windows was super easy to get on it too - best bootcamp experience I have had yet.

Same machine as the OP but 40GB of RAM. I wasn't sure what settings you wanted this run at so I just went with Basic.

I can run it at native resolution and/or with different AA settings if you like.

Excellent results. I am so impressed with this refresh. I'm actually looking forward to my FCP X editing work this week!

Terrific results. How about the extreme settings of Heaven? And at higher resolution? And the fan noise?

yeah, the basic heaven preset is not all that demanding. My vid card gets a constant 60 fps (as if it was somehow capped), except in the dark corridor (scene 18) which I presume is used to load data)

I would imagine that 1440p and 5k are of immense interest. The tesselation options are pretty.

Could you run the cinebench cpu test as well? I would be really curious to know. Tnx

Okay, I am in BootCamp Windows 10 and I downloaded Cinebench and just gave it a quick run.

That was the first time I ran it. I got 913 cb on CPU the second time and 918 the third.

Thanks man! That's a bit of bummer graphics wise, my 2 year old imac gets 107fps in osx and 127 when in windows. This new graphics card is less than a 16% increase, I was under the impression this was a much better gpu, something like a 30-50% increase considering how far behind these desktops are lagging in that department. :(

The results from Cinebench will be different if you use MacOS.
136 fps and 920 cb for what I saw on a Youtube video.:)
The only drawback is the fan noise.:(
