yeah, its nice except the headphone jack in the front. That is awful design choice. Rest is nice though

Some of you came close, but I think Apple's official version is the best. Having Ethernet included and a front-facing headphone jack is awesome.

I can see for headphone users, they may like it but if it is also used for desktop speakers, that's not a great location. The best thing to do is ignore it all together and go for either an external DAC connected by USB or powered speakers with built in DAC that connect by USB. The advantage is that Apple's internals limits audio and this method bypasses it altogether. I play 96/24 files native in this manner and avoid such files being converted to lower bitrate / resolution.

I have an amplifier that has bluetooth. Is that a reasonable choice? Or would there be too much lag for games and videos?

I have not dealt with bluetooth for video (or games) in a long time. Back when, there were latency issues and thus being out of synch sooner or later was typical. I believe some apps are Bluetooth aware (VLC as example) and you can per a played file set the delay sensitivity pre or post video. For me, I would not trust Bluetooth nor does it provide the best audio. If you must, consider whether the app or player you are using can be set to handle Bluetooth audio. If not, then expect likely latency issues.

Not sure, it's quite common for places to re-use mice / keyboards, so it probably wouldn't be too far-fetched to see at least a couple of USB type-A ports on there.

Would bet on a headphone jack, two USB-C ports, HDMI, ethernet, and two USB-A as it is on the current mini.
Welp, USB type-A ports didn't make the cut after all.
