We could be getting iOS4 on September 1st

Apple's special event is going to take place on September 1st, so Steve Jobs would probably announce when it will be available for us to use.

Why would the featured image be a guitar with the soundhole that has an Apple cutout?

My guess is streaming iTunes, new iPod Touch.

You don't really have to guess, this is pretty much an annual event:

Exactly. As excited as I am for iOS4 on iPad, don't think we'll be seeing it announced on Sept 1st. :/

Definitely a music-related press conference.

If it follows iPhone OS releases, developers will get a beta version at least two months before any full release. So unless you're a dev, don't expect iPad OS 4 any time soon!

That. As it happened with iOS4 for the iPhone last spring, the best we can get is an announcement that it will be seeded to developers.

Or, maybe it's the annual September iPod event that they've been having for over 5 years?

Or since the iPad is an iPod too they will include it. Im hoping for a 7" model.

Or since iOS 4.1 beta has been out for awhile and it will most likely be shipping on the new Touch's it would be released for the other i devices as well including the iPad.

I hope that either Apple has some more exciting products to release, or they tone down the event a bit.

Last years seemed to be a lot of hoopla for very little change to the iPod line.

Well seeing as the iPhone is an iPod too I guess its safe to assume that the iPhone is going to get updated as well. And seeing as all other types of Apple computers can play music as well, I expect an across the board update to every Apple product that has music associated with it.:cool:

Given that the iPhone runs iOS also I do see it getting 4.1 on the 1st. The iPod Touch cannot have facetime without 4.1 so unless it somehow doesnt get a front camera or they add the camera but dont let facetime work we are going to see 4.1 released on Sept. 1st or whatever day the iPod Touch is available for sale.

Well, they did say iOS4 for iPad would come in the fall, and September 1 IS kinda considered the fall, but Apple usually delivers at the end of their approximations. So might not see it till Oct./Nov.

They might make a brief mention of it, or show off a few iPad specific features, but I can't imagine much time will be dedicated to it. The iPod Touch update and iTunes X will probably dominate most of the time, the other iPods get updated, iTV after that, and maybe iOS4 iPad as a one more thing. We still won't "get" it until the last possible day of fall.

I was kinda hoping for something iWork/iLife related too... but I doubt it's in the cards... hell iTV may not even be shown, though it's looking pretty likely.

Can someone please explain why people are so excited about IOS4 update on the ipad. If its anything like its phone counterpart then its nothing overly special in terms of the software that is already there.
I've got a iphone 3gs and updated the software and other than organising my apps into folders, photos taken with the camera and ones synced via itunes are separated and multiple emails received from one person are put into a folder. Its nothing special on what was already installed. True multitasking still isn't available.
Only thing they could do to make the ipad update really special is a mobile lite version of MAC OS X Software.
