Can someone please explain why people are so excited about IOS4 update on the ipad. If its anything like its phone counterpart then its nothing overly special in terms of the software that is already there.
I've got a iphone 3gs and updated the software and other than organising my apps into folders, photos taken with the camera and ones synced via itunes are separated and multiple emails received from one person are put into a folder. Its nothing special on what was already installed. True multitasking still isn't available.
Only thing they could do to make the ipad update really special is a mobile lite version of MAC OS X Software.

It depends on person to person basis... I want iOS4 as it introduces multi-tasking [yes many will now say it will go slow and what not; but, honestly I have it installed on my iPod 3G and I haven't noticed any difference in the speed or battery life so I doubt it will be a problem for the iPad also].
Having multi-tasking would allow me to research in safari and then switch to note - taking apps to better copy and paste. Nonetheless, I will be able to stream Pandora and talk on Skype while performing my many required tasks [reasons for which I bought the iPad in the first place]. Lastly, [since I talk on Skype for more than 3 hours at night] I will be able to finally put my iPad to sleep while talking in Skype as the current version puts you on "Hold" once you press either the home button or power button on the iPad.
Hmm, I should also mention that it will allow me to have a universal inbox so I won't have to keep going back and forth to check emails [I currently have 8 mail accounts linked and it's a pain having to go in 1 inbox and then to another and then to another and so forth...].

I want folders like on my iPhone. Such a little thing I know, but it makes organization of apps so much better and makes it easier for me to find what I need. I like the multitasking as well. Going from iPhone to iPad the iPad OS always seems a bit unfinished now.

Maybe you should get a phone and delete some email accounts. Problem solved.

Ahhh, if it were only that simple. But that isn't always an option for everyone as some have a private e-mail address (I have had mine for 13 years now, so I am loathe to get rid of it), then one for school (most universities issue you with one, whether you want it or not), then maybe for work, then maybe for a website or two that you own, then maybe for a club etc. etc. etc. It all adds up quickly.

I really need multitasking. When im working on Quickoffice, sometimes i need other info that is on my mail or i need to google something up. It slows me down when i got to get out an reenter Quickoffice, it think it is the only thing that really annoys me:mad:. Also the need to create folders i have 18 pages of apps

Folders. I need them.

I haven't updated my Touch yet because I don't want to use the stupid things until I can have them on my iPad.

Doubt it as well.

However, I can very well see SJ letting us know of the release date and an update on the software.

...

Jailbreak. I won't upgrade to ios unless a jailbreak is available because the jailbreak community already has these features and they are implemented better than what apple has done

I think Apple will try to distance iPod and iPad events from each other, a passing comment on progress and perhaps announcement of a release date is the most we’ll probably see.

I recon it gets its own event/announcement perhaps alongside the rumoured iPad mini?
