My coworker, who is on travel and is borrowing the iPhone, accidentally dropped it on the street and the screen cracked. When he showed the pics below, I was in utter shock. It actually hit the bottom corner of the phone, not the top, where it's broken.

I'm not gonna cry or pout about my iPhone - I'm just going to try and get it replaced

How this could happen is just beyond me - it literally only dropped 20 inches to the floor. One would think that the iPhones would be more shatter-proof than that.

Fair warning to everyone - invest in a good iPhone protector!

Very sorry to hear that. (your images are broken.)

do a search for PC World Iphone and you will see that it is much more durable then most believe.

Sorry to hear about your iPhone
I would probably kill him / her for that.
I don't think that you will get it replaced by Apple as this is not a manufacture defect.
So have that coworker go and whip out that credit card and buy you a new one.

I'm going to find out my options tonight at the 5th Ave. Apple Store. *crossing fingers*

I have read in many places that Apple is willing to place it nice during this first week given the possibility that the hardware may have issues.

I'd send to apple and see how much to fix, OR contact your home insurance or your Credit card, and they *might* be able to fix. :( Tragic!!!

Ouch

Well the screen is "shatterproof", its only going to crack a bunch if you drop it, and it is thin glass, not steel or something...good luck with the replacement though

I wish you the best of luck iPhonePhan!

That's not only bad but dangerous. I hope that in "borrowing" such an expensive device, your co-worker has the money to reimburse you. Why would anyone need to borrow your iPhone? You're super nice.

Umm, get your coworker to fix it, and get him fired if he doesent? You cant just break somebodys 600 dollar thing and expect them to pay for your carelessness.

Hindsight is 20/20 but.... Why would you let someone travel with your iphone??!!

Wow that sucks. My friend accidentally dropped my iPhone from around three feet on the asphalt in my driveway and all it suffered was a tiny dent on the upper left hand corner!

Best wishes getting it fixed/replaced...

do we know what material is that cover made of? Is it glass? It looks like it is from the images shown here. Anybody knows?

I had a scare last night at Ikea. I turn a corner and my iPhone comes flying out of my old Samsung Blackjack leather holster onto the concrete floor. The iPhone was lying face down and I quickly made my way to it. I cringed as I gently turned it over to find that my screen was still as beautiful as the day I got it. The Vaja i-volution case for the iPhone can't come soon enough.
