You said Apple thinks about its existing user base before making decisions by doing the best thing for its customers. I proved you wrong. And, okay, for the 2 times in the next 100 years that I connect my phone to a PC, I'll be sure to worry about the fact that a simple adapter isn't up to "spec". Bottom line is there was no excuse for them not to include a lightning to USB cable, an adapter, and a fast charger. Stop making excuses for a trillion dollar company.

If you think the best thing for most iPhone customers is to ship it with a cable that won't allow them to connect it to their PCs, then I'm glad you're not making that decision.

(And if you think that a USB-C adapter is simple... you really have no idea. A cheap one can easily burn your house down.)

Ship it with two cables, I don't care. It still costs them pennies for a cable. But, be realistic: Apple hasn't even expected you to ever connect your phone to a PC for MANY iterations of iOS.

Also, why are we arguing over a stupid adapter that DOES exist and isn't going to burn your house down? Just buy a damn USB A to Lightning cable which are available for under $10 as well. Still cheaper than buying the charger and cable that SHOULD have came with the X.

Having to buy a cable is no more a concession than having to buy a more expensive ADAPTER to connect to your new MBP with USB-C only.

I'm totally lost to be honest. You originally complained that they should have included a USB-C cable and charger, and then that they should have included a fictitious adapter as well, and then that they should have included two cables, and now finally that actually it isn't a big deal to have to buy another cable after all.

I'll break it down for you one last time. Your argument has been that Apple decided to stick with USB-A to Lightning because MOST users don't have USB-C on their PC. That logic doesn't hold up when you consider their choice to eliminate the headphone jack, not to mention Apple has specifically spent millions so that you don't have to connect to a PC at all. My argument is that they skimped on the charger because they're cheap, not because they wanted to serve the greatest number of customers in the best way possible. That's been consistent. It is a big deal to have to buy a $25 cable + $49 charger, which is my point. It wouldn't be a big deal for the consumer to buy a USB-A to Lightning for under $10. Got it? Argument could have stopped at my first reply since I pointed out your flawed logic but you proceeded to nitpick the adapter comment.

Having the Lightning to USB-C + fast charger would have served the consumer the best. There would be no need for an unnecessarily expensive USB-C > USB-A adapter for people who purchased a new MBP as well. They didn't include it because they're cheap, not because they thought most people needed a USB-A to Lightning cable.

If your battery lasts all day why even worry about fast charging? Just plug it in at night before bed and move on.

Good point. I didn’t know about the whole day battery life. I’m so used to fast charging with android & Windows. So I started looking at it right after I bought the iPhone X.

May be I’ll consider charging with charger it came with if this charger may deteriorate the batter life in the long run. I’ll use this charger only for urgent quick charge.

Better yet get a wireless charger and just toss it on the pad when not being used or overnight.

Enjoy!

Yes. I almost forgot the fact i bought a wireless charger for my beloved Lumia 950. So dug it out last night from the closet and it worked like a charm. Nowadays I get almost 10+ hours of screen time on this phone which is quite amazing. So doesn’t matter how long it takes overnight to charge

USB PD delivers up to 3A, you're not even reaching full speeds mate
Of course it is. It is because iPhone X uses The Same Lightning Cable (5 Volts 1 Ampere) just like the iPhone 5.
iPhone 5 up to iPhone X uses same charger, same size. Unfortunately iPhone 4S and below uses 30 Pin and that is so ancient that is why iPhone 2GS to iPhone 4S charge the slowest unlike later iPhones.

No, it's not. Fast Charging requires USB PD. @OP s charger is NOT USB PD. It maybe faster than the 500 mw... but it is not using "Fast Charging™"

Leave me alone if you don’t know what you’re talking about. Thanks!

Err that’s not correct.

The supplied charger in an iPhone box will deliver 5W 1ah

iPad chargers deliver 12w 2.1ah (used to be 10w) hence the faster charging time. You could always charge the iPhone 4 faster using a iPad charger.

For full fat fast charging on the 8/8+/X (0-50% in 30mins) you need a minimum of a 29w USB-C adaptor and a USB-C to lightning cable.
