My i5 27" 1TB iMac arrived yesterday and ............

............ it's fine!

I can't see any yellow tinge, the HD is quiet, the screen is not cracked, there's no flickering, everything works, .......

The screen is awesome!

I'm happy. :)

BTW its a week 52 and was dispatched from the UK (to the UK) 2 days earlier than estimated. Ordered 31/12 to save the vat increase.

Please do me a small favor.

Go here:

and run the test. This will test performance of common JavaScript tasks.

Please let me know what number you see under the Dojo 1.4.0 column.

I'm curious to see how the I5 iMac compares to C2D (250ms).

Do the screen test with the gray bars on this forum turn the brightness up all the way, look for yellow tinge on the bottom and right corner.

I have still yet to believe there are 100% uniform color LCDs out there.;)

ive got exactly that on my 24" 2.4 machine from last year...

some things dont change :(
 
Why are you so eager for people to do the tests??

I really can't understand your fixation in making the people to do the test.

Just leave it alone.

If they can't see it it's not there since the yellow tinge is so noticible. More or less if it's there it's viewable, with or without the tests

Honestly I could care less, if he didn't want to do the test he can simply ignore the comment:rolleyes:why are you so eager to rebutt?

All I am saying is perfectly tinge-free lcds are a rarity at this point in the production technology anyway. if he doesnt notice the Tinge then great. I know guys who don't notice dead pixels, but one look and I can spot them.:D
 
Yours is week 52 last year

This has nothing to do with any possible delays this year. Either you got it from a reseller or apple finally got around to shipping your order from last year. New machines should be week 3 or later.

As I said I ordered it 31/12/09 from Apple store online (UK), not from a re-seller. I was quoted 2 weeks for despatch - they were 2 days early on that estimate. I don't care when or where it was made - it works! ;)

I completely agree. I read the forums because sometimes there is helpful things here, but I got snagged into looking for faults and flaws and guess what? You find them if you look. I was completely happy with my machine until I started looking for stuff.

If you are happy leave well enough alone imo.

I understand your point of view but firstly you pay a lot of money for Macs so the least thing would be to have a perfect machine (it's not a 500$ Dell). Secondly what if the the issue gets worse with time and the day you complain about it, you get told that if the problem was from new you should have complained before etc... what if you don't buy Applecare and in 1 year and 1 week you notice it and are bothered about it but cannot get anything done about it...

Computers with this type of premium on the hardware should be perfect.

Just saying...

Which number are you referring to? I got my i7 this week and would be happy to tell you what you need to know. Do you mean the number right at the VERY bottom of the column, or the number just under Dojo 1.4.0? My number right at the bottom is 253.
 
Some guy said it's impossible to believe that anything is perfect and infers that Apple products should be. Let me break it to you, NOTHING and I mean NOTHING is perfect. You can't get 100% uniform color (wtf, do we still have B&W LCDs to differentiate from?) LCDs. Back when LED wasn't used for backlighting, CCFL bleeding was common. LED has improved this somewhat, but it's not 100% uniform either.
 
My i5 got 234 on Dojo 1.4.0. With respect to the perfect iMac, if you don't find a problem then it is perfect. There is always a flaw if you look for it... no such thing as perfect.

My i5 got 230ms on that test.

Beware the zealots who tell you every iMac is perfect, even though many are not.

My point is simply this: If you are happy with it, it seems perfect for the OP, then don't go looking for issues. Don't go there. Don't do the stupid yellow screen test if you can't see it glaring at you with the naked eye.

If it ain't broken, don't fix it. Live and let live and any other platitude I can come up with to reaffirm to let it be.

The wise man once said 'Ignorance is Bliss' though I don't agree with that wise man, you however are certainly free to believe whatever ypu wish.;)

Scored 312 on that test with an '08 mbp 2.5 ghz

I'd have to conclude that the additional cores don't benefit JavaScript performance that much.
