Update: Seeing my setup laid out like that got me thinking that those cables were a bit annoying. So I've swapped in my MagSafe Duo, a dual port 20W+20W charger, and a little felt pouch that has one black USB-C cable, and one white lightning cable. It's slightly heavier, but my bag is so light these days it's negligible. I think this is much simpler and now I don't have 3 cables that all look the same getting tangled.

Cleaner and less visually polluting.

I am curious as to the value of the magsafe duo if you aren't travelling. Do you find yourself needing to charge your watch in the middle of the day?

Well, I was on 12 planes last year, and I do also bring the same bag to overnight trips to see family, so it just being in the bag without me having to think about it already has some value. I've also been spending a bit of surprise time in hospitals the last week or so, and it certainly came in handy then, not just for me but for family who also didn't think they'd be there.

For bringing it to work specifically, there hasn't been a need to charge the watch during the day. The value comes from the simplicity of not having to think about what chargers are or aren't in my bag.

Maybe I am the most minimalist... there are only 2 things I carry out of the house every time - house keys and Garmin Epix.

If going on a run, this is augmented with OpenrunPro headphones and Stryd footpod (and fuel if going for longer runs).
If driving somewhere, then car key and drivers license are added. (Garmin Pay covers wallet, and would love to have license stored on watch as well.)

One day I might start taking the iPad out of the house... on those rare cases where I have, I carry it in my hand without a bag - just the portfolio cover.

Nice, but the title to this thread is "My iPad EDC Gear".

I travel light and most of what I have has already been shown by others but I usually carry:
  • iPad Pro 12.9
  • Beats Fit Pro
  • Wallet
  • House keys
  • 20w travel charger (when traveling abroad I swap this for the 100w MBP charger and swap out the adapter to whatever country I am going to)
  • Apple USB C hub (just in case)
The major difference (and why I posted) is that I carry it all in a Pacsafe sling bag, I really like the security features, farade cage for my wallet, zips that lock together, can lock it to things like tables, wires in the belt and lots of compartments to seperate things like the keys from my iPad :)

If I am going to work (not every day occurrence, at the most 1 day in the week):

1. MacBook Pro 14 inch M1 Max
2. iPad Pro M2 11 inch with Magic Keyboard
3. Apple Pencil
4. WH-1000XM3 Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones
5. AirPods Pro
6. Bluetooth Razer Basilik Hyperspeed mouse
7. Charger cables

If I am going for walks in the weekend I usually carry only my iPad, the Apple Pencil and the AirPods Pro.

In both cases I carry my iPhone 12 Pro and my wallet.

Yeah, handheld LED flashlights are another of my expensive hobbies. Zebra is one of my favorites, among many.
I dont see any OLights here. Ive switched from almost entirely Streamlights and Fenix to OLights. Particularly rechargeable ones. Though my AAA i3TEOS is my daily pocket carry. For a $20 light, its impressive. Overall, theyre extremely well priced for the quality. I havent had any kind of failure of any kind with them, and Im HARD on lights in a 24/7 haz-waste/hazmat industry.

Ill work on my load-out. Im out and about from 6-20hrs at a time. I dont travel light. lol.

You are right, but I more than make up for the lack of OLights with Nitecore, SureFire, Zebralight, Thrunite, JetBeam, and HDS. All my lights have stood the test of time, and I am very happy with my collection. Used to be twice the size it is now with Fenix, OLight, and a few others, but I paired down to my favorites to what you see in the photo. Been collecting and using handhelds since 2006 and am very sure of the lights that best suit my needs.

You are very right. It is quite a collection. Im happy to see a good old maglite in there. I used to collect just those in my younger days. There wasnt much better in the 90s than to be a kid with a 6D that was bigger and heavier than they were. lol. Still have a lot of them. Its the solitaires that got me bad. Just like my Swiss army classics. Got too difficult to keep up on all of the colors though. lol. I do still carry a green LED Solitare though (as in, one with a green LED. No real reason, other than I like green).

Only Nitecores I currently have, are actually just the little 1" square marker lights. I forget what theyre called. I use them on the back of our hard hats, on the headlight straps. You can see one in the lower right of my drawer there.

Sharpies, some multi tools, several SAK’s, several aaa Mag lights. Nice collection!

I have 1 ea 2xAA, 2xAAA Mags in my nightstand, and a 3D with a 350 lumen drop-in my car. A couple new snaps attached. I have as you can see several other brand aa's and aaa's. As much as I love my Apple pen and iPad Pro for notes, I still have a real love for pen and paper, and edc in general, as you've also seen. Zebra is my go to.

I have a few knives, and have had a few SAK's, and multi-tools. I like watches and wallets, and all sorts of neat little gadgets like lasers and such, but you can only afford to maintain a couple, maybe a few expensive hobbies at a time.

Oh, the 2xAAA. I have a gold one, and its my pride and joy for Mags, even being Incan. I must have gotten it 25+ years ago now.

I always have my write-in-the-rain and Field Notes notebooks with me. My go-to pen was always Zebra 301s, but with my hands being what they are now-a-days, Its been Dr. Grips for the bad days, and plain G2s. I still think of myself as lucky that I get to put actual pen to actual paper every day.

And I know how that goes. Thats just one drawer of a toolbox I got specifically for my EDC stuff. (My wife calls it my jewelry box.) Which is sitting on top of an over filled gun safe. Trucks, guns, and computer stuff. Sometimes I wish I didnt have such expensive hobbies too.

I guess we might be derailing this thread a bit. Maybe we should start a general EDC thread? lol
Do you happen to be on the Candlepower forums or EDCforums? (and dont get me started on the Expo forums. Luckily I never could afford to fully Expo my truck when I first drank that cool-aid, and havent had time since I could.)

Olights are well-built, but proprietary batteries and low CRI emitters stop me from adding any to my collection.

I spotted the HDS above, very nice. Was planning to add a Rotary to my collection, but let's see. Have my focus on a B.O.S.S. light and funds are not unlimited. ;)

Same forum name as here at CPF and www.edcforums.com. Used to be very active at CPF but not so much anymore. I still pop in there occasionally.

Yeah, Henry is a great guy. I used to have several of his lights, but as I mentioned in another post, I have paired down my collection considerably. I had to keep the Rotary though.

Nice, I’ll have to look for your posts. Not sure if I use the same name or not. (Shows how long it’s been since i was active).

Fair points on the Olights. Ive yet to find another1xAAA that has the output of my i3TEOS Tho. my other lights are the Seeker 2 pro, and Perun2. and I have 21700 batteries in both. It’s the ”MagSafe“ charger I like most with them. And I still think, for the price, they’re great for me..like I said, I’m in hazwaste and hazmat response. So I can’t justify spending toooo much on too high end of a light, because mine can always Be contaminated or damaged in a way that i can never get it back.. If i try to spend more than $200+/- on a flashlight, the wife says it better be a weapons light, not something im going to lose at work. Lol

And, either way, I’ve slowed way down on all hobbies. save for my new M2 MBP, and soon new iPad mini.. this 11” pro is great at work. but too big for my messed up hands for off duty time. And of course weve been in the newhouse for 3 years already, slowly, but steadily adding all of the smart home accessories and accent lighting every where! Lol. There’s also this little thing, called a new platinum F150 in my future.. and I hate car payments. So that’s where all of my disposable income has been going.

Its such a fun device to use... not a day goes by I don't stop to marvel at the engineering that goes into it.

Apple is bound to make a foldable device... not sure if it's going to be a Mac/iPad hybrid or a iPhone/iPad hybrid, we will see in about 2-3 years.

Maybe sooner than that.
