iPad Pro my ipad only holds 6 app in bottom

in some youtube videos, people's ipads can hold up to 10 apps at thr bottom dock, but mine only maxes out at 6.
You have to be on iOS 11 or newer for the dock to hold more apps. This is not iOS 11, is it?
Yes. The new dock was introduced with iOS 11 so you should be running iOS 12 at this point to have it.
pro 10.5 2017 version thanks i should consider upgraiding
actually I used ios 7 until 2016 for general use on my ipod 5th gen. so i am used to using particular os version for a very long time.

I have been a foot-dragger at times, too, but 12 really blew me away. I had the betas on my Mini from DB1 and every beta was an improvement over 11 and 10, at least in my opinion/for what I use the iPad for. I had stayed away from 11 mostly because I thought it was a pig compared to 10 (which wasn't that nimble, either). I think the iOS engineers really got an awful lot right with 12. You know that if you install it you can't go back at this point, though I don't think you'd want to - as long as you don't have any 32 bit apps that haven't been updated. I lost one 32 bit app but it was worth it.
