How is it any different than the people who have say a Tesla model whatever and streaming video while waiting in their car? and there was a brief time period the company even allowed streaming/gaming while driving for passengers (while it was just simple for a driver to acknowledge they are a passenger), now when the NHTSA launched an investigation into it then that is when Tesla stopped the ability. To this day though a Tesla can stream/game while parked so I say again, why is someone mounting an iPad to do the same any different?
Does that make it right somehow??
So if your friend jumps off a bridge and kills themselves makes it right for you to do so. Please go ahead.

Twenty years ago when I had a lengthy commute on an interstate highway, I’d see people with books or magazines propped up on the center of their steering wheels reading while traveling 75MPH. I was always concerned they’d drop it as I was passing them and swerve into me while trying to grab it. The other day I pulled up next to a guy who had a tablet in this position. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

I'd see the same, but most often with newspapers. The best one was when I was sitting at a light in left lane, right behind the front vehicle. A police car came up behind us all in the median and everyone squeezed over to let it get by between us and the guardrail - everyone but the car in front in front of me where the driver was on his phone, oblivious. With her front bumper right up to his corner, the policewoman hit her siren hard and got on the car loudspeaker - "Put down that go***mn phone and move your f*ing vehicle now!" Best part was watching the phone bouncing off the side window as the driver was so surprised. Distractions in the car ...

Craziest I’ve seen was someone putting on mascara while on the freeway. To me, that seems like a surefire way to poke your eyes.

That made me laugh out loud. I wish you had a video of that. It must have made your day!

I saw someone doing that on the highway, mascara in one hand, phone in the other. At a guess, I'd say she was using the front camera as a mirror to apply make-up while driving.

Are you seriously watching programs on an iPad while driving, instead of watching the road? Is this legal in the US? Wow..
Bah. Watching programs on that iPad is less distracting than having to fumble on the built-in touchscreen for radio or temperature controls on all modern vehicles.

I’ve thought about this but my older car sadly doesn’t have blue tooth or aux. It’s a great way for modernising an older car I’d say.

I've used an iPhone as a GPS with a window suction cup mount in rental cars, and even used my original iPad (1st gen) as a GPS in a rented motor home years ago. The problems I ran into with both, is the device overheating from sunlight. I'd suggest trying it on a 90-degree sunny day before you decide to buy a dedicated one.
