First impressions are very good! The keys have a nice amount of travel to them, the material feels comfortable and my fingers seem to glide across the trackpad. The magnet is not especially strong however and any attempt to wrap the keyboard behind the iPad will make it come off.

I am using it with a 10.5 iPad Pro.

Can you pick it up with the keyboard closed making sure you push/hold near the middle of the top of the keyboard? Does this trigger the play/pause media control key like it did on the Slim Combo case for the 1st/2nd generation 12.9. I had to stop using the case because it kept triggering play in my bag!

I gave it some squeezes around where the media buttons are and it didn’t unpause the music.

Thanks! Either they have improved the build quality or that issue only impacted the bigger 12.9" case. If only they made one for the older 12.9" iPad Pro I'd buy one

Thanks for sharing. Do you have any pictures of the setup by chance?

What does AMA stand for?

Not right now but the promotional shots give a good account of it unless there's some specific detail you wanted to see.

Hows the trackpad? Does it support all gestures like apple trackpad 2 ?

All of them.

how's the weight?
I'm assuming that you are not able to use it on your lap?
It's funny you should ask about those factors, they may be why I end up returning it despite the keyboard, tracking pad, kickstand and iPad OS coming together really nicely to make a laptop replacement.

The keyboard itself is very light, the bulk of the weight comes from the case. It's surprisingly heavy.

It's completely unlappable mostly because of the weak magnets: you can't anchor the device to your thighs by putting the weight of your wrists down on the keyboard because the device risks separating from the keyboard and your iPad will take a tumble.

I found it usable on my lap. My legs were straight out on a footrest though so that may have helped. I am using it on my lap while sitting up right now to type this. It works but It is in no way comfortable. I wouldn’t do this for more than a few minutes.

It might be because of the size/length of my thighs but it feels a bit precarious using it on my lap. The magnets are so weak and the case so heavy that its not possible to rescue the iPad from falling using the keyboard. Ive gotten a bit more used to using it on my lap but finding that sweet spot is a lot harder than I thought it would be.

With the Pro does it cover up the "top" speakers?

The cut out is not perfect (looks off-centre if that makes sense) but no part of any of the speaker circles are obstructed.

wish they were making this for the 9.7” iPad Pro model.
The case obviously doesn't work but the keyboard/trackpad does.

I bought this in order to have an easily swappable (no Bluetooth pairing required) keyboard and "mouse" combo for my various devices and it worked beautifully. I plan on keeping one permanently in the office and grabbing another one for home/travel.

Tested working on:
2016 Pro 9.7
2017 Pro 12.9
2017 Pro 10.5
2019 Air 3
2019 7th gen

I have this Khomo case on my Pro 9.7:
It's pretty snug but the SmartConnector edge does fit in there. I use similar Khomo cases for the 12.9, 10.5 and Air 3, and those have plenty of tolerance.

For the 10.2 iPad 7th gen, I use this case:

I only use a keyboard when on a desk and for that, it's stable enough even when I just use the trifold cover on my current cases as stand.

weak magnets? Are they worse than on the slim combo? Lap use is my main method with the Slim combo and it works Great. I assumed the combo touch would be similar.

Question because i dont know too much about it: why would i buy this over the apple magic keyboard? Does it do anything better?

I should have been more specific as the magnets are strong enough that you can lift the iPad from the keyboard without it coming loose. The problem is that the range of movement on the keyboard's hinge is extremely limited and any attempt to push it beyond that range will make the keyboard come off so it's not just that you can't wrap the keyboard behind the iPad but any uneven surface (for example your thighs) will make it start to come apart from the case if you're not careful.

Lol when I saw it I was thinking, “against medical advice,“ and was wondering why in the world that would be an issue. My mind has really been wandering.

;-p

Funny that you mentioned that. My brain saw Amazon when it read AMA. :D
