I agree. I had the same thing happen to my Powerbook G4. I tried to reinstall Tiger from scratch and the drive finally died and my Powerbook only showed the CD drive.

The drives could have been damaged during shipping or mishandling. Do you live near a train track?!

Actually I did. One problem. I accidentally deleted the original rom! Crap! Does anyone have it so I can flash back? I would appreciate it. Thanks!
