I'm sorry to hear that. I was pretty excited to upgrade to Runcore last December. The improved performance was thrilling, but the problem was just too annoying that I couldn't stand anymore. I sold mine after a month. I'm sticking with Apple factory SSD now and pretty happy for the stability.

Am I just lucky? Why am I not experiencing any problems with my Runcore SSD? Is this a certain percentage of Runcore SSDs?

to the thread starter / anyone else with this problem

I am having similar problems we have been discussing in this thread:
https://forums.macrumors.com/showthread.php?p=9953697&posted=1#post9953697

I am wondering what happens to most people with the "sleep hang" after they hard reset? -- every time I do this, I get the flashing file folder on reboot and have to reset ram & smc & sometimes wait a while to reboot it....havn't heard much of other people mention that problem, wondering if its unique to me?

PS--until I find a resolution to this problem, I have just disabled sleep and have yet to have a wake from sleep freeze (or any freeze) or any boot problems...not a long term solution, but something to help ya get by while this gets resolved.....

I never had the flashing folder on reboot.

I am the creator of the thread at tweakforums. I have returned the 128GB drive and gone back to using the 64GB drive. As of today, I still haven't received any additional information from RunCore (they were supposed to run tests on the drive after I return it).

So far, their support is TERRIBLE.

Yes, I have seen the ? folder at reboot after a runcore freeze. I would estimate 90% of the time there would be a successful apple reboot and 10% of the time I would see the ? folder requiring a second reboot.

I can confirm the same experience. Are we any closer to a solution?

I've been experiencing exactly the same freeze on wake behaviour on a Macbook Air Rev.A with a RunCore 128G-C SSD. After a hard reset the system normally boots up fine.

About a month ago I kept getting the ? folder when trying to boot. I ran Disk Utility after booting from the DVD but it was unable to repair the file system. DiskWarrior from Alsoft was able to rebuild the file system on that occasion.

This week it's happened again and this time DiskWarrior has been unable to rebuild the file system. At this point I've given up on recovering my data.

What I'd like to know is:

1. If I upgrade the RunCore firmware is this going to solve the freeze on wake problems and make the Runcore reliable enough to keep using? I'd rather throw it away if there's a significant chance it'll trash the file system again.

2. How do I upgrade the firmware without having to open up my MacBook Air again? I've read about other users obtaining ISO images to burn and then boot from on their Macs. Is there somewhere I can download these?

3. Has anybody solved the freeze on wake problem?

I've the same problem with a MacBook Air Rev B + 128GB 1.8" SSD from Runcore. I've contacted the Runcore support, but I've no response.
Here it is a video to show what's happen :

I think if there is no solution found in 2 weeks, I will ask for a refund !

Despite good performances, this make it a very Bad product.

Possible Solution Found

Hi all,

I have a MBA Rev B that I installed a Runcore 128Gb SSD into December 2010.

I, too, have been completely frustrated with the constant hangs and "beach ball of death" - on my MBA it can happen at anytime, regardless of whether I put it into sleep or not.

I've done all the usual, including disabling sms, changing the sleep state, unchecked the "turn hard disk off" in power saver etc. All to no avail.

However, I kept noticing that my MBA was constantly running hot and the fan was always at full speed (~80 degrees C, and 6200rpm). I then checked activity monitor and noticed that the indexing service, mds was using anywhere between 80-150% of CPU.

So, I disabled mds by typing

sudo mdutil -a -i off

Since then, no further hangs and computer now cooler and fan quieter!

Perhaps the hanging issue has with something to do with incompatiblity between the Runcore SSD and Spotlight indexing?

Anyway, it's now been about 4 days without issues, where before it used to hang about 3 times a day!

Just posting my experience in case it can be helpful to anyone else.

Cheers.
