Stop Hating...

How about, very cool first attempt on personalizing the phone. I would suggest more distinctive icons and give suggestions. BTW...here are some very clean images we can try..vs hating on a guy and critiquing him w/o contributing any assistance. -RSZ

Thank you RealShakaZulu... People should make some suggestions if they are going to criticize it. For a first attempt, i don't think it was too bad of a job. I did think that it was too much blue, too much mirrored effect, and i did debate whether or not I wanted to trade off the mirror effect for the icon names.

Either way, i just wanted to see how it would look physically rather then online. I will tweak with it... Any suggestions would be great, thanks!

Sorry, the home screen looks like the set of a bad game show.

The ONLY thing that caught my eye without making me wince was the battery percentage meter. If it's updated with real data it would be very useful.

From a design standpoint, if you REALLY want to change the look, try thinking less along Apple's lines. They've pretty much already done a beautiful job of rounded corners, glows, reflections, etc. What you're doing is essentially painting a moustache on the Mona Lisa. Instead, maybe scrap every icon, find a completely different one for each, and ditch the rounded boxes. LG's Prada black and white theme, and some of Sony-Ericssons' Flash themes are good examples of breaking the UI mold. Head over to deviantart.com for some truly inspiring icon sets.

The battery is updated with real data.. the blue meter is based on its current charge, it moves dependent on its current battery life.

Thanks for the positive criticism, I will check out that website.

I love the battery. The rest is a little cluttered IMO, but if you like it, cool beans :p

Wait I been off the scene for a while but WHEN HAVE YOU BEEN ABLE TO MODIFY THE HOME SCREEN AND HOW!?!?!?!

Great Job o98eclipse!

Excellent work, looks good. I love that duracell look. Is there a place we can obtain that graphic to upload to our iphones? Keep up the good work of altering these icons, your off to a great start!

Cheers,

Big

My Modded iPhone... (My Second Attempt)

Other than the home screen rearrangement of the icons, I changed the lock and power off icons and the highlighting text background to blue. Thanks again to digitalkid56 for his work in this revised theme.

Yuck.

Just because you can doesn't mean you should.

Wait until some actual designers come up with some stuff.

That looks like a clown nose on the statue of David.

Or spinners on a BMW.

Etc.

Nice attempt, but IMO the iPhone interface should look clean. The interface that you have looks really cluttered, especially with the reflections of the icons.

i actually like the icon reflections. apple's doing it with all their things lately, including the dock.

Better, defiantly more clean.

Is that a windows or mac background??? I'm guessing windows

Mac, from the developer preview of Leopard.

Funny about the i-Phone knockoff, I have never seen that before, but the grass background and the black and white icons for the primary apps are very similar to what I chose. Weird.

The modded phones look UGLY!

I guess if you are showing off your ability to hack.. that is cool... But the final result makes a "brown Zune" look sexy.

The iPhone looks great as is....

One guy took a scotch brite pad to his iPhone to make it brush chrome.

I am concerned about our young people. Truly concerned.
