About notification light, I prefer smart watch vibration when phone receives a call, sms or notification. Excellent for the office. Pebble does this nicely & others probably do the same thing.

I dunno, somewhere in West Texas
I love Android but honestly I don't see why we need a 13 page thread on notification lights. Now, do I use it? Sure. But it's not the end all be all. My phone stays in my pocket almost all day as I don't have the luxury to sit at a comfy desk at work and for the most part I need to pull my phone out my pocket, so really a notification light does me no good because as soon as I grab my phone I'm unlocking it anyway. Even better, when I use the iPhone 5s, I can unlock it while still in my pocket so I definitely have no use for a notification light on iOS.

At home, I pretty much ignore my phone because I have other toys to play with.

I'm not. I used to do that on iphone, but no no need to unlock anymore. A split second glance tells me all I need to know and it's right back in the pocket.

And OBVIOUSLY the notification light is a useful feature. Anyone who claims it isn't is lying. Now, such a person might not actually use this useful feature -- just as some never use the useful vibration or useful ringtone features -- but it is certainly useful. To say it isn't a useful feature is not an "opinion", it's idiocy.

Back at it, I see.
I don't need it doesn't mean not useful. Once you realize the difference between the two statements, you'll actually understand what the other side is telling you.

The other side is telling us "I don't see personally see the need for a light with the way I personally use my phone at this point in my life, so it's not a useful feature to have on the phone".

Do you fail to see that arguing against the usefulness of a notification light is no different from arguing against the usefulness of the vibrate feature? Or the ringtone? It's just plain stupid.

Move on, morons. Move on.

Speaking of neat Android features, I just found this app called "Blacklist" that will apparently block all calls that are not in my contacts, or according to whatever parameters I set up. Very useful since I get a few nuisance/sales type calls a day, and this app will send them straight to voicemail (where they generally don't bother to leave messages).

It occurs to me that this function is so basic that maybe even the iphone can offer it. Does it? I never looked for it. Anything similiar anyone knows about or is using? Any drawbacks to it (other than the occasional call you may have been happy to take going straight to voicemail)?

^^ this, although I'm waiting for a wearable like the S that will have standalone capability.

In terms of a notification light, I do use mine. Mainly to see if I'm getting text messages. I keep my phone on Vibrate most of the time.

My notifications for texts are simply configured to vibrate 5 quick pulses, which should get my attention. However if I don't notice it, the LED Blinks Green. Email and Forum notifications blink Blue.

The nice thing is you can configure things anyway you want.
