Hello all,
I just wanted to share my newest toys with other like-minded folks :)

I'm new to MacRumors as a poster, but have followed it religiously for months now as I did research for my new Apple laptop. I'm still a big time PC gearhead, and will always be for gaming, but for work (I'm a sales rep on the road 300+ days a year) I'm looking for something different than my old Sony VGNS360.

I have an iPhone and love it...if the MBA is anything like that (the experience, that is) then I think I'm sure to love it.

The loot:
  • Macbook Air 1.6/80
  • Macbook Air USB Superdrive
  • 250GB Western Digital USB Powered Harddrive
  • AT&T USB 3G Broadband Card (replacing my old PCMCIA version...btw, ATT gave this to me for free w/o any contract extension)
  • Logitech VX Nano Cordless Laser Mouse
Oh, and hello everyone...go easy on this Mac nub :-0

I just bought the Nano and liked it so much I went out and bought the X400 USB Logitech laser mouse (fantastic)

some advice about this:

Do not use the Logitech control panel but use 'USB Overdrive' (works with nano ; shows up as 'wireless USB if the logitech software is not installed)

it's has a much smoother feel to it and seems to have the same mapping capabilities. I was using the Logitech panel and was going to return the mouse as it was very unpleasant with that software.
note: With the Logitech control panel the Nano would not show up in USB Overdrive. I removed the Logitech software and it showed.

hey thanks for the heads up on the mouse MJones...once my sister and her husband leave (we're having them over for dinner tonight) I can dig into setting everything up. I'm sure I'll have questions so don't leave me people! ;)

ok first dumb question...

I bought the USB ethernet cable because they told me I could link my PC to the Air and xfer over my media libraries that way. I have about 10gb of music I'd like to bring over to the Air. How would I go about doing this?

Thanks in advance

hi again MJones,
Can you explain to me what USB Overdrive is? And where it can be found? It sounds to me, based off of what I think you're saying, that this is some sort of cpanel for the mouse?

thanks

Edit: Oh, ok I see...it is a software package you can buy for the mac. I'll have a look...thanks

Since you have an iPhone, and the WD USB powered drive, I suggest one more thing you will probably want - a powered USB hub for your desk. The HDD will be too iffy thru a non-powered hub (and you definitely will want a hub if you're planning to have both the iPhone dock and the HDD plugged in.

Oh yes - congrats and Enjoy!
