I have a Seagate external 250GB hard drive which I imagine is very close to the WD

Anyway, this drive is a power hog and will not run without the special two ended USB cable that it comes with on my Macbook pro.

HOWEVER, it will run fine with a single cable on the AIR.

Which suggests that the AIR's USB port has a bit more juice than most notebooks as was speculated at first because of the power requirements of the Air's superdrive and then was later discounted as it says in the profiler that it's a standard 500ma USB port.

I would bet that your WD will run fine without a hub.

Could be wrong though.

ok first dumb question...

I bought the USB ethernet cable because they told me I could link my PC to the Air and xfer over my media libraries that way. I have about 10gb of music I'd like to bring over to the Air. How would I go about doing this?

Thanks in advance

You can do the transfer using an ethernet connection, but easier for you (since you said you're coming from a PC) might be to copy the data onto the external drive, then moving the external drive to the MBA and opy the music over.

I thought some of you might enjoy the quick review I put up for my Apple MacBook. Since this was my thread, I hope it's ok to link to a review.

Thanks all ;)

Your (not so) quick review was pretty awesome. I esp. liked how you let us know what type of user you were and where you were coming from. :)

What an unbiased and balanced review of the Air! I wish more Windoze and Mac users could look at all the variables as you did. I welcome you to the fold. Put the Apple sticker that came with your Air in the lower left corner of your rear window. You will be surprised at how many people smile and wave at you:cool:
