My predictions for WWDC 2012

1. An updated lineup of the Mac Pro supporting Thunderbolt, HD 79xx desktop graphics and Ivy Bridge processors.
2. Updated iMac with HD 7000M series mobile graphics and Ivy Bridge processors.
3. iPhone 5.
4. iWork '12.
5. iOS 6.

Updated MacBook Air with bigger blade SSD and Ivy Bridge mobile processors should be released alongside Mountain Lion.

All but #3 are realistic. Apple is too smart to screw over it's customers by releasing the iPhone 5 that early, and too smart to announce it and give the competition a sneak peak at features coming to a phone 3 months later. The iPhone is pretty much on a Sep. release now.

Having to support 3 iPhones is bad enough. Even if deprecating the 3GS happens, I'd still end up supporting the iPhone 4, 4S and 5.

Welcome to the Industry

I honestly think the Mac Pro will have a redesign for the following reasons:

• Big rack mounted servers are still king and with VM being implemented en masse that is the future in big enterprise/universities.
• 2.5" hard-drives are getting very fast and cheaper, not to mention SSDs
• A unique 4 bay HDD setup can still offer optimal cooling in a small size with great accessibility.
• Twin GPU's for a BTO setup are the largest requirement for power.
• Smaller power supplies can be used since CPU's peak power thresholds are getting lower.

I don't have a need for the Mac Pro, not to mention the funds but I love the huge slab of aluminum ever since the PowerMac G5.

A lot of the fanboys are probably going to go out and try to get an iPhone 4S. I'm not saying every Apple fans would (I'm an Apple fan and I don't even own an iPhone) but the more intense (FLOABW) apple fans are going to be screwed over by this.

But if Apple releases the iPhone 5 this summer, they are screwing over their customers. They're not stupid enough to do that. Why else would they release the iPhone 4S in Sep. if they wern't moving to a Sep. release schedule? It makes no sense.

Focus on Mac

I assume that after WWDC has been iOS centric for the last time, we'll see a Mac centered event, probably introducing:

* HiDPI display support, more device independent drawing.
* QuickTime AV API improvements (Airplay, Apple TV related)
* Notifications on the Mac (further unification with iOS)
* iCloud improvements (more documents in the cloud)
* iWorks (yes, I agree and forgot about it)
* Xcode improvements

Hardware:

* Retina Mac OS
* Apple TV 3 with HD Airplay mirroring
* No iPhone 5, no iOS Preview

I think iOS 5 has a few versions to go before iOS 6 will contain the next big thing.

When LTE and IPv6 becomes mainstream, iOS 6 will cover peer to peer iPhone networking, phonecalls without GSM and all kinds of multimedia services.

If they started working on the iPhone 5 after the iPhone 4, why would they then work on an iPhone 4S and release it 3 months late? I don't follow.

Strategically releasing a lesser product before Steve's passing is much better than bluntly releasing a better product after his passing.

Did the 4S get buried? No. Nothing got buried by Steve's death. In fact, that would have only boosted the iPhone 5.

If it was released after it, then of course the 4S would have been buried.
Preceding events always belittle following events. The 4S reduced the significance of Steve's passing, whereas if it were released after his passing, Steve would have belittled the 4S.
