I really think he overreacts, that's why almost no other reviewer is mentioning it. The screen is so much more better than my high end aluminum MacBook was, from end 2008. He say's it's like screens from 10 years ago... It's a lot better than AL MY MacBook/PowerBook/iBooks in the past.

Anyway, I can accept that it cannot be HIS MAIN machine, but come on the text below the video stated to the reader (everyone) it can't be anyone elses too?
He truly is short minded. ;)

Yes, the edge darkening is apparent on my 13". It is unfortunate, but the overall quality of the screen is good, so it is hard to complain. I think glossy glass on it would annoy me far more than all these imperfections.

Agreed. That was the primary reason I bought a MBA over MBP - the glossy/glass effect would do my head in.

Nobody makes a laptop anymore with an IPS display and that's what you really need to avoid this.

The HP EliteBook 8740w has an IPS display. You shouldn't over generalize.

I have the 9CDF btw, it still has bad viewing angles. That's just life with TN panels.

I have 9CDF, no dead pixels and don't have any complaints about the screen. Though after I that stupid video I do have to admit, the screen does lose contrast when looking at extreme angles compared to my beautiful 27" iMac screen, although you can't really compare the 2 in the same sense.:rolleyes:one being a desktop and one a super lightweight laptop.

Careful about reading it like that though, if you used the migration assistant, it brings over color profiles from your old computer and you might just be using the color profile of your old display.

I know I'm currently using a profile for a 9C8C screen on my 9CDF (it's a bit darker, which makes it look better to me).

Do the same here, but I use the profile for a 9C89.

My first one (with the best screen I've had on the 70+ laptop models I've used) was 9CDF.

The 9CF0 is comparable to a Thinkpad T400 screen - yes, that bad.

I disagree. My first 13" Ultimate had a 9CDF but wouldn't come back from sleep. My replacement has a 9CF0. Perhaps it isn't nearly as good, but it is still miles ahead of the screen on my Rev B, and I don't think I'd have noticed anything if not for the posts here.

There is variability in all LCD screens. A pro might notice a difference, but probably would recommend something with an IPS screen rather than the TN screens in Mac notebooks.

I could be wrong about any laptop having IPS. I'll amend that to say no laptop that I know of has an IPS display. :)

I looked up the HP. Maybe it has an IPS display but all I could find was "17.0" diagonal LED-backlit WXGA+ anti-glare; 17.0" diagonal LED-backlit WUXGA WVA anti-glare".

WUXGA monitor is a DreamColor series IPS display. It is an option, the base display is a TN panel. This is not something that is common in laptops, but it is something some vendors do offer on higher end models meant as mobile workstations.
