Hey guys...

I have a mid-2012 MacBook Pro and recently had a faulty USB hub short out. It fried all of the USB devices that it was connected to and it fried the USB ports on MBP. All other ports and functions are working fine. Genius Bar offered a $500 logic board replacement, which I can't justify based on the age of the computer.

I'm looking for advice on how to survive without working USB ports. The MBP have thunderbolt 1 and FireWire 800, but I can't seem to find any good cables or docks to use to get some reliable USB ports.

What would you guys do in this situation? Any advice would be appreciated!

I have used the Belkin and Elgato Thunderbolt docks, they have USB 3.0 ports on them. If I remember right, those docks run about $200.
