I always thought it was killkillcollectkillkillescortkillkillkillcollectkillcraftkillkillkill. ;) I did not get bored until I hit the end game...

Hi

End game, and what is the end in WOW ?

The challenging most fun part actually starts when you start raiding. That's when things get more interesting. Otherwise it's just the same thing over and over, it's just you really got to get into the game to enjoy it, otherwise it can just feel like the most boring game ever made.

I disagree. The most challenging thing is winning an alliance battleground after 4pm est.

Me likey

We started playing because I was away from my family for a while, so instead of calling each other, we jumped on and played WoW together. Now we've both hit level 85 and are starting to enjoy the end game content which is where the game really starts to get interesting

This is exactly it. It's WHO you play with that makes all the difference. I only do raids, dungeons & battlegrounds with Real-Life friends & co-workers, and I avoid PuGs like the plague. Makes ALL the difference!

The ***holes in WoW are more noticeable of course, but there are still plenty of decent and nice people playing the game.

Hi

End game, and what is the end in WOW ?

There never is an official end. New raid dungeons are continually released, it's the challenge, the grind, the social arena, and the quest for better gear and bragging rights. The only real end is when the individual calls it quits. I have, but that does not stop WoW from being one of the best games I've ever played. I'm preparing myself to jump into StarWars: The Old Republic hopefully when it's released before the end of the year.

On mac?

I had the same issue as you. I decided to check WoW out, see what all the hype was about, created my character, a human warrior named Tharadorn.
The beginning was pretty boring, then it got a little better, even ended up buying gold online to be able to buy better equipment. Got a horse etc. Then at about lvl 40 I got so bored that I stopped playing altogether.

I just found the, 'quests' mind numbing and boringly repetitive. I also heard that the game only really starts at lvl 70, or whatever max level is but there was no way in hell I was going to spend that much time getting to that level.

I also reckon it's much more fun when you're playing with a group of friends.

Oh well, I'll just stick to my CoD4 promod ^.^

Star Wars:The Old Republic will be windows only to start with, they havent ruled out ever making a mac version but we wont be seeing it any time soon.

I have my W7 partition ready to rock for this game.

Playing through KOTOR to prepare myself!

Hi
Sadly it is one of the most boring games ever made, it needs a BIG kick up the backside for solo players, then I would go back to it and more than likely stay there.
You know WoW is an MMO, which means you play with other players. What is the point of playing solo in an MMO? You can play Dragon Age instead.

If Diablo is anything like Torchlight, I'll pass, thank you.

Could you elaborate? It's been a long time since I've played Diablo, what I remember it having that Torchlight does not have is party action, vs solo action. What else is different? Develop you skills, abilities, magic, gear, and go fight lots of mobs, scoop up the loot, rinse and repeat. :)

Hi

That is the way Of WOW if you play solo.....

Level 1 go kill 10 pigs
Level 30 go kill 100 pigs
Level 60 go kill 200 pigs

And that is WOW for the solo player sadly.
.

No, it isn't. You move to another zone and kill 10 bigger and tougher pigs. Equally boring, perhaps. But from your description, it sounds as if you never actually played.

C'mon...it's not that true. Have you seen all the new quests after cata ? They are fun and refreshing. Mount Hyjal, Twilight Highlands they are all nice, fun questlines, amazing cinematics, also low level quests are.
There are only 2 things i would complain about:

1) They get boring when you have done them several times
2) I miss the times when Azeroth was scary and mobs could easily kill you. Now everything is a bit too easy.

I miss WoW, but can't (won't) go back.

My fantasy is they take Azeroth, expand each zone by 10x and turned it into a big sandbox MMO with random events, the ability to build habitats and explore random dungeons that pop up. :D

When I first started I though I wouldn't enjoy the game for long - never liked Warcraft but was really into Starcraft.

Then a friend (he was like lvl30 at the time) showed me and my other friend Orgrimmar, some basics and we agreed to try it out becaue it looked stunning. The polish and little details as well as the huge unexplored world seemed awesome.

So we started as 3 Tauren questing togather - that went until mid-Barrens when we moved to a different server where we rolled different characters.

Had a blast leveling with all the yet unknowen locations, creatures and stories and eventually hit 80 (cap at the time) and started gearing up and runing starter raids. However on a private server it was'nt very fun as half of the spells either didn't work or didn't work properly and bosses had like no special abilities so we moved to the official server last May after seeing in Youtube videos how the bosses should work.

Quickly (in under a month with relaxed pace) leveled up via Recrut-a-friend and found a great guild which was when we started "serious" raiding and finally saw what it was all about.

Now I'm one of the main healers in our 10-man group and we've been server-first in progression raiding for the 2 most recent raid tiers. Finally downing that boss you've been working on for a few raid nights feels great, especially if you are the first to do so on the server =)

Now I don't do much besides raiding. Leveling other characters even after Cataclysm is boring as hell, but raiding itself is the reason I keep playing WoW. Sometimes venturing into battlegrounds and arenas for some PvP action is refreshing when I get a bit bored of PvE, although for PvP I pefer Call of Duty 4 =P

Edit: forgot to mention that WoW was my first MMO so that's probably part of the reason I liked the general concept so new and grand

Honestly, you havent even grasped what the game is about. Try a couple of dungeons. Lvl up to 85, do some pvp and raids and youll start to see what the game is about. Yeah, it requires 200 hours of initial investment plus 4 hour a day from then on :) sick, but true

So I tried WoW for around 25 days, had a interesting 25 days to say the least.

I'm not a big fan of games like WoW, I played RuneScape many years back, so I thought I might enjoy WoW.

Joined the free 10 day trial, but bought WoW straight away, with burning crusade.

I made my character, a Blood Elf, Priest. I looked it all up, my main role would be to heal/protect other players.

Getting to level 1-10 was pretty easy, took me a few hours. 10-20 took me a few days, I spend around 2 hours on WoW a day. I did lots of quests, but started to get bored quickly.

I started to do dungeons, got to level 26, but again, I found it boring after a while. After playing 20 days, roughly 1 hour a day. I can safetly say I didn't barely even start the game. I've been told, I was just tipping the iceberg. I can't imagine myself sitting through another hour of WoW, bored out my face.

In the end, I "retired" at level 27. Is it me, or did I just do something wrong to be bored of it? I prefer going out for a drive.

No matter how you look at it, WoW is a gorilla. Hard to wrap your arms around, difficult to truly explain. And you can't sum it up in any one way.

I've played on and off for six(!) years. I am a huge gamer, but WoW kind of shattered my world to a degree. I simply don't look at games the same way anymore. Ultimately, the reason why I love it is because with the right people it can be the most fun you can have in games. Also, there is a little something for everyone. As I've grown older and fartier, I've found myself finding entertainment in different things.

There is raiding if gear and working as a part of a large team is what's one your mind. You can work the economy and auction house if you're an economy guru. You can cook and fish while you talk to your parents on the phone or just to pass the time. You can PvP in a King of the Hill, Halo-esque sort of way. You can get ultra competitive in Arenas with a few of your buds. You can explore the vast world. You can try to get every achievement imaginable.

I'm not even playing the game at the moment, but what you get in WoW is something you can't get anywhere else - a game that can make up for our lack of attention span. Despite the thoughts of some people who think they've beaten the game, there is no right way to play it, you just have to find the way that works for you. And if you are lucky enough to have some great people to play with, it suddenly becomes the greatest game ever made.

Been into MMORPG's since the days of EQ1 \

That game sucked the life right out of me for three years. I'm just starting to play WoW occasionally, but I have a blockade in my head to keep that sort of stuff from happening again.

I remember starting EQ in the summer of 2000 and taking 1 day /played to reach level 5! Heh.

Nothing beats good old tabletop D&D.

Well... Wow is a repetitive and expensive game. It's made to make money, not to be a top notch gaming experience. It's better when you play with friends and do dungeons and whatnot... but everything else... boo-urns.

$15 a month = $180 a year, not even counting the cost of expansions and whatnot! You could buy 3 new normal games at that price, again not counting the cost of expansions! And you could buy REAL rpg's, from Elder Scrolls to Mass Effect or Dragon Age... those are real games. Not wow's version of questing... kill x amount of y, or find x amount of y, rinse and repeat 1 billion times while paying an excessive amount of money. I love most Blizzard games, but wow? Ridiculous.
