It seems that the excellent UK rail real-time info App MyRail Lite has been removed from the AppStore...
Does anyone know why? It was in the top 5 free Apps in the UK prior to it's departure.
Many thanks!
SAV

Yeah, I just recently restored my iPhone and was looking for MyRail Lite again also...! :(

I hope it comes back, was a brilliant app...!

I always thought that due to the nature of the suffix 'Lite', a more fully-featured version would be released at some point, probably with a price attached.

Perhaps MyRail Lite has been pulled by the developer to make way for a 'Pro' version?

I believe it was withdrawn for legal reasons, with apparently the only notification being on Twitter (Sorry, can't insert link as work computer is locked down tighter than a duck's back ring at 20 fathoms, but http://twitter.com/MyRail/status/1087038983)

Not sure how long the existing app will work for either but hopefully, on the basis that Kizoom provides the data with a web app, service won't be interupted. But only guessing as I can't find anything concrete.

It did say, either in the app or in the app store, that the developer was planning a more fully featured one. It seems strange to yank the old one before the new one's up though.

It's one of the most useful and well-designed things I've downloaded for the iPhone, and I was definitely intending to support the developer for his full version when it arrived just because the Lite one was so good.

The only reason I can think that it's been pulled against the developer's wishes is because National Rail Enquiries had a problem with the app using its data. That seems a bit crap if that is the case, especially as their website is horrific to use and the app was great.

Edit: Oh no, LostLogik, that really is crap. Thanks for posting that though.

Yeah I just noticed. I accidentally deleted it yesterday from my iPhone. So went to the the App Store on my iPhone and no where to be found. Luckily I still have it on my Mac so I just restored it from there. It is one of the best designed apps on the iPhone.

I have this app which I use more often. http://themacbox.co.uk/iphone/trains/#_Search . Much better than using the journey planner on the National Rail site because it is optimized for iPhone. In fact it is so to the point and cleanly designed I use it on my Mac as well. I have always wished MyRail Lite would include a journey planner as well.

That's a bummer, I'm glad I downloaded it when I did. I originally got it because I thought I was going to be working for a company down near Brighton and would need something to help me figure out which trains to take and when to take them, but then I got a job in Whetstone instead just down the street from my house, so I ended up not really needing the Rail app after all. But it looks really good, I'm looking forward to finding a use for it (as long as it still works)

interesting if u can backup from ur mac

that's mean u hav Myrail Lite installation file in ur mac (.ipa one)?

if yes, it might be really pleasure if u post that online somewhere
so other people can still get Myrail Lite by not download from Appstore
(but it necessary for ur iphone to be done jailbreak and mobileinstallation first)

so i dont know if u can check it out of .ipa file in ur mac

:p:p:p:p:p

MyRail Lite was still in iTunes so it was just added back to the iPhone when I synced. I am sure it would be possible to host the IPA somewhere for others to download, but personally I don't want to get sued by National Rail.

Oh please. If you accidentally deleted it off your iPhone, it'll be in your iTunes account. This so smacks of wanting illigit files.

Sry but this program has been withdrawn from itunes completely = ='
well u probably read earlier quote bfore made any comment alryt??:apple:

Well, sorry for you but still do not advocate what you are asking, which is illegal. However, hope is that the app will reappear as has previously been intimated, either as was or in upgraded state.

Version 1.1 available?

An update to MyRail Lite (v1.1) has just appeared in iTunes however when I click on it it says 'Your request could not be completed. The item you've requested is not currently available in the UK store'

I suspect it's one of the rogue updates that people are seeing (ie not an update at all). I'm fairly sure that 1.1 was the last version anyway.

My last installed version was 1.0, unless of course I missed a version, plus the icon has been updated as well. I'm wondering if the developers have released a new version which hasn't been approved by Apple? Given the recent "variability" in the software update system it wouldn't surprise me if an update which shouldn't be visible, for some reason turns out to be.

EDIT: You are probably right - it turns out I did miss a version before the app was pulled.

I still have Myrail lite however it is now stating that the service will be discontinued from the 31st March as they have not renewed their license.

Doing a search on the App Store comes up with this:

http://www.nationalrail.co.uk/iphone/

Costing a whopping £4.99 for something you can do for free using their PDA website... of course I cannot comment on the App as I have not purchased it.

I have the new National Rail Enquiries app, and it's very good indeed. Worth £5 to me for the info it gives and the ease of use over the website.

wouldn't dream of spending £5 on retrieving what is public information
think national rail have been more than a little underhanded as Myrail lite performed excellently. The price on their app is considerably higher than for the tubedeluxe , a similarly public service focused app.

their behaviour is pathetic really:mad:

Booo, I only just noticed this is no longer working. Guess I will have to take more notice of the schedule now. Screw paying £5 for this service.

MyRail Lite available again?

I've just successfully managed to download MyRail Lite from the UK iTunes store. Does this mean it's back available again or just an accidental release by Apple?

UPDATE: Further picture evidence added

You're joking? I've just purchased the national rail app at £4.99

Does it work? As the app stopped working, thats why I had to uninstall it - said they no longer provde this service or something.
