The point is that, at least in my experience on AT&T, you have to pay more for a service that doesn't give you any extra data. Like, if I'm paying for 3GB of data per month, WHY would I pay $10 more just to be able to use that same 3GB in a slightly different way? It's an unfair company practice to squeeze more money out of us.
For the third time, I don't disagree with your statement. I just giving the facts as to what AT&T can contractually do to your plan and has done recently. I DO think we should able to use our data however we please, but that is not the case. I am here to provide information and experiences, not my opinion.

Except I've read many different things from that statement in this forum, not to mention I know many people who tether on Sprint without a tethering package for years now with nothing happening to them.
Do I personally know people that use Sprint that have had the tethering plan tacked onto their bill as a result of tethering without the plan? No.
Do I know people that have been forcibly removed from their unlimited plan because they used minor data quantities by tethering without a tethering plan on AT&T and Verizon? Yes.
Has Sprint been an iPhone carrier as long as AT&T and Verizon? No. Does Sprint have as good of a network as the big two carriers? No. Is there a solid chance Sprint will catch onto people breaching their contract by tethering without a tethering plan? One who is smart would assume so.
If you're on Sprint, tether away. But whenever you are doing something that breaches contract, it's only a matter of time before the business takes notice. AT&T let it slide for years, but abruptly took action.
