Hey I've looked at a few emulators like sixtyforce. One other one, Mupen64, with Mupen64 you couldn't change the controllers. With these I wanted to play Zelda. When I got into the game everything was fine until I opened up the main menu. The screen froze but I couldn't see the icon move. Could anyone give me a new emulator. I have been looking but can't find any others ;-; . I tryed adjusting the graphics, but that didn't help. Someone help lol

AHHHH! I JUST RELIZED THIS WAS ALREADY POSTED! Any new ideas though? Has anyone found a solution to this problem so the game menus dosn;t freeze?

From my experimenting, Sixtyforce is the best N64 emulator out for Mac, but it is horribly buggy, in time I'm sure we'll have a nice solid, stable emulator.

I use Mupen64. Didn't want to pay for Sixtyforce. Zelda works fine on Mupen for me, but the controls make it quite difficult. Mupen's seen some development since the latest Mac version, though, so hopefully someone will port the newest Mupen to OS X soon.

Thanks for the reply Kuwis. Yeah, but with Mupen I get the same problem in Majoras Mask ;-; The menu freezes lol It sucks.... I guess that's life it has it's ups and downs eh?

Sixtyforce is getting a slow rewrite which will hopefully fix some of the bugs.

None of the emulators on Mac are good. I use the project64 and mupen64 using fusion.

What bugs me is he wants 16$ for a slow rewrite lol? I don't think I'll pay until I see him do things a bit quicker anyone agree?

I paid and I don't regret it. I wish he was quicker, the updates are rare and bring little noticeable difference.

Well, the problem I have is: I want it for one game, than I'll probably never use it again. I just wanted to play Zelda. The PC one works right Project64?

I have no menu problems in Zelda other than it taking a second or two longer to load than it should. It seems like it's frozen for a moment, but then it comes up. The controls are annoying, though.

I just use SixtForce without paying and use the Zoom feature integrated in the OS to play "full screen" when I want to. I prefer windowed mode most of the time anyways though.

hey does anybody here know how to save in mupen64? I run a 10.5 intel mac and when I play a game, it creates a folder called Save and puts an unknown save file for that game in there. How do I open that save file?

Also, the save doesn't work for Donkey Kong 64. Could it be because I have the wrong version? If thats why, can somebody tell me the current version of mupen64 they use and how to save in it?

its not illegal nor against forum rules........we just cant give out roms and such or info how to get them. we can discuss emulators. just like how we can discuss jailbreaking and hackintoshes per say. Emulators are fine to discuss

for example.....search results on macrumors for sixtyforce

and another for search results for n64 emulators on macrumors

i recommend sixtyforce though its shareware and you cant use a gamepad for long without paying

another osx option, though not near as good is mupen64

however, if you have windows, i recommend this by FAR: project64 this is bar far the best performing and 100% free

Robot I don't if you'll read this it's been awhile but some games arn't supported by the emulators. It's on the emulator site for which games it supports and doesn't. I'm not 100% though, but I think I read it dosn't support DK64.

N64 Program for Snow Leopard?

First off, I know that emulators are "illegal"-- but for legacy systems that no longer yield any income to ANYONE other than maybe Gamestop who resells used games, I don't see the harm in them. Honestly, Nintendo, nor third-party N64 developers are hurt by the N64 Emulator crowd.

That being said, I used to use an emulator in Leopard perfectly fine, but since switching to Snow Leopard (well, a new system altogether), I am unable to use my emulator (sixtyforce) and am unable to find a suitable replacement.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Sorry if this is a topic unsuitable for posting here... I am thinking it isn't or shouldn't , which is why I went ahead and posted. :D
